More than 120 athletes compete at trade union sports tournament in Lao Cai
Lao Cai - The sports tournament attracts a large number of athletes to compete, contributing to improving spiritual life and building a dynamic working environment.
On May 28, the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation opened the first sports tournament for union members and workers in the Northern region of the province in 2026 with the participation of more than 120 athletes from grassroots trade unions in the area.
The sports tournament is part of a series of activities in response to "Workers' Month" and "Action Month for Occupational Safety and Health" in 2026; and also celebrates the success of important political events of the country and trade union organizations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Phan Huy Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - said that in recent years, the sports movement among union members and workers in the province has always received the attention of Party committees, authorities, businesses and trade union organizations.
According to Mr. Cuong, promoting mass sports activities contributes to improving the health and spiritual life of workers, strengthening solidarity, and building a dynamic and effective working environment at agencies, units, and businesses.

This year's sports tournament is held in 2 regions, North Lao Cai and South Lao Cai, with competitions including football, volleyball, pickleball, tug of war and pole climbing to pick lucky money.
The organizers assessed that this is not only a physical training playground but also creates opportunities for union members and workers to exchange, learn, and strengthen solidarity between units and businesses in the province.



At the opening ceremony, leaders of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation requested athletes to compete with the spirit of "Solidarity - Honesty - Nobility - Progress", strictly comply with the tournament regulations and ensure safety during the competition; and at the same time wished the referee team to operate objectively and impartially so that the tournament would be successful.
