Benefiting more than 185 billion VND from the initiative of Da Nang workers
Many initiatives of Da Nang union members and workers go straight into production, helping businesses save costs, increase productivity and make hundreds of billions of VND in profit.
In the sound of regular weaving machines at Da Nang Telala Co., Ltd. (Hoa Khanh Industrial Park, Lien Chieu ward, Da Nang), few people would think that a small problem in the raw material cartridge supply stage could open up an improvement worth hundreds of millions of VND per month. From the repeated problems in production, the working group of this 100% Japanese-owned enterprise has found a solution.
The problem lies in 75 DKY 6/45 weaving machines specializing in producing small-sized tape. The tire supply system of the machine depends on the main rotating axis. When the speed changes, the tire is easily stretched or sagged, leading to weaving errors, reducing product quality and affecting productivity.
Without waiting for experts from afar, the on-site working group started to manufacture an independent powertrain including a 3-phase electric motor, mechanical transmission, and speed control inverter. When the new system was installed, the feeding was more stable, accurate, and no longer dependent on the main axle.
Mr. Nguyen Khac Hung - HSE Manager, Da Nang Telala Co., Ltd., member of the author group - said that after applying the initiative, the rate of goods meeting standards increased to 97-98%, raw materials saved 5-10%, machine productivity increased 10-15%. On average, each machine brings a profit of about 50 million VND/month. The parent company in Japan has approved the deployment of over 10 machines, generating revenue of about 500 million VND/month.
It is worth mentioning that the initiative not only creates economic value. When product errors decrease, raw material waste is reduced, and the amount of electricity, water, gas and waste generated also decreases. A technical improvement from the factory therefore becomes a specific step in the green production journey.
In the field of irrigation, the story of initiatives is associated with the safety of the community during the rainy and flood season. Quang Nam Irrigation Exploitation One Member Limited Liability Company currently manages and operates 17 large and medium reservoirs, 29 electric pumping stations, 31 dams. Previously, during the rainy and flood season, the unit had to arrange 30 people at 30 duty points, monitor and report data 4 times a day.
The volume of data is large, requiring continuous updates, while even a small error in water level or flow through culverts and spillways can affect reservoir regulation. From that pressure, a group of 8 workers researched the "Reporting Table, Forecasting Data and Automatic Warning of Works in the Rainy and Flood Season".
After 5 months, the solution was put into operation. Mr. Nguyen Duy Xuyen - Vice Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union, head of the research group - said that instead of many personnel manually updating, now only 1 person needs to operate on a smartphone. The system automatically calculates data according to regulations, and reminds and warns if errors are detected. This initiative helps reduce operating pressure, limit risks in the rainy and flood season and benefits the company by more than 1 billion VND.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of Da Nang City Labor Federation, in the period 2023-2025, city trade union levels have coordinated with the government and businesses to launch many emulation movements. Through this, many initiatives and technical solutions have been recognized, benefiting more than 185 billion VND; 35 union members were awarded the Creative Labor Certificate by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
In the coming time, Da Nang City Labor Federation will link the initiative movement with digital transformation, improve production processes, improve labor productivity and build a green, clean, and safe working environment.
