With more paid days off, workers eagerly experience culture

Many workers have begun to plan to take advantage of this day for meaningful activities, both relaxing and fostering spiritual life.

After the National Assembly decided to choose November 24 as Vietnam Culture Day and allow employees to take leave and receive full salary, many workers expressed their excitement.

Unlike ordinary holidays, many people said they will spend this day enjoying culture in their own way.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, a worker in Ninh Binh, shared that in addition to resting, she plans to take her children to visit some cultural sites and historical relics near her residence.

This day is culturally meaningful, so I want my children to go to see it, to understand more about the tradition. It may just be a visit to a relic near my house, but it is still very meaningful," Ms. Thu said.

According to her, November 24th falls on Tuesday, so she hopes to swap holidays to enjoy the cultural location of her hometown and region with her family.

Not only aiming for specific destinations, many workers also hope that November 24th will be accompanied by policies to encourage cultural access such as free and reduced entrance fees.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Nguyen, a worker in Ninh Binh, said that if museums, historical sites or cultural spaces open for free or have incentives on this day, the attraction will be much greater.

Having more days off, I want to go with my family to visit and see cultural activities. If free or discounted tickets are given, people will definitely respond more strongly," Mr. Nguyen shared.

The male worker also acknowledged that in the context of busy work and frequent overtime, workers have few opportunities to access cultural values. Therefore, a holiday with a clear theme like November 24th will create motivation for them to actively arrange time for different experiences.

In fact, many workers said that previously, holidays were mainly for rest or simple entertainment.

However, with the meaning of Vietnam Culture Day, they are willing to change their habits, prioritizing activities with higher spiritual values such as watching art performances, participating in festivals, learning about local history or simply spending time reading books, learning about national culture.

Combining rest with cultural experience not only helps regenerate labor but also contributes to improving spiritual life, increasing family and community cohesion," Mr. Nguyen said.

According to the Resolution on Vietnamese cultural development just passed, on November 24, people are exempt or reduced from fees and charges for visiting public cultural and sports facilities according to the decision of a competent State agency.

The State encourages people, especially youth and children, to participate in cultural activities during major holidays of the nation and country.
