Proposal to improve the policy of protecting female workers
Proposal to improve the law on female labor policies is the opinion at the Scientific Conference on Assessing 5 years of implementing the 2019 Labor Code.
The above workshop was recently organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, in Hanoi.
According to Ms. Do Hong Van - Member of the Presidium - Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, from the practical 5 years of implementing the 2019 Labor Code, it can be seen that regulations on female workers and ensuring gender equality have created positive changes, but for these policies to truly come into life, bringing practical benefits to union members and workers, especially female workers, it is necessary to continue to improve both policies and implementation mechanisms.
In particular, it is necessary to comprehensively review regulations that are still general principles on gender equality and female labor protection to concretize them into clear legal obligations of employers.
At the same time, it is necessary to supplement and perfect strong enough sanctions for violations, ensuring deterrence and enforcement in practice, especially for discriminatory acts in recruitment, use of labor, training, job placement and termination of labor contracts for female workers.
The improvement of the law needs to be placed in correlation with international treaties to which Vietnam is a member, especially the core labor standards of the International Labor Organization.
reality also shows that there needs to be an incentive mechanism along with appropriate legal constraints for employers to proactively implement measures to promote gender equality at the workplace, such as improving working conditions, arranging flexible working hours, creating conditions for female workers to be trained, improve qualifications and promote.
Investing in or coordinating the construction of kindergartens and classes for workers should be considered as a content in the social responsibility of the enterprise, and at the same time a criterion for assessing the level of compliance with labor laws...
