Awarding 75 scholarships and study gifts to children of workers and laborers in An Giang

On the morning of August 20, in Long Xuyen ward, CEP Long Xuyen Branch solemnly organized the "CEP Scholarship and Learning Awarding Ceremony - Year 2026". Attending the ceremony were Mr. Do Tran Thinh - Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL), Chairman of An Giang Provincial VGCL; Mr. Le Vo Tan Luy - Deputy General Director of CEP Microfinance Organization; Mr. Nguyen Van Toan - Director of CEP Long Xuyen Branch, along with representatives of local authorities, parents and 75 exemplary students.

According to the report at the event, in 2026, CEP is expected to support more than 5,300 customers who are workers and laborers in difficult circumstances with a total budget of 7.2 billion VND. In which, the highlight is that the CEP scholarship program throughout the system will award 2,461 scholarships and 2,670 study gifts with a total budget of more than 5.7 billion VND. This activity is not only a microfinance solution but also demonstrates the mission of the Trade Union organization to accompany, protect the rights and improve the lives of workers.

Specifically at CEP Long Xuyen Branch, this year's program awarded 49 scholarships and 26 study gifts with a total value of 100.5 million VND. This is a worthy recognition for the efforts of students in the area to overcome difficulties. Taking care of education for the young generation from the grassroots level also makes an important contribution to consolidating learning standards in the locality, gradually improving the comprehensive quality of education in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Tran Thinh - Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Labor Federation acknowledged and highly appreciated CEP's efforts in poverty reduction in the province after more than 4 years of operation, especially the deep concern for the educational environment of workers' children.

Representative of CEP, Mr. Le Vo Tan Luy shared: "Every school start season, the worry about the children's educational baggage clings to the hearts of parents. This reward will be a strong source of encouragement, accompanying them on the journey to conquer knowledge, opening up better opportunities in life.

Behind each scholarship is a touching story about the will to study. That is Ho Nguyen Mai Ka (An Thanh hamlet, Hoi An commune), living in a small house with her elderly paternal grandparents and precarious farming parents, but she still nurtures the dream of becoming a teacher.

Or Phung Thi Nhu Y (My Thoi ward), despite lacking living conditions when her father went to work far away, she still persistently studied with the desire to have a solid future to share the burden of morning and night with her mother.

Giving practical scholarships and study gifts before the new school year not only helps families reduce difficulties, but also gives students more strength to rise up. Through this, the program continues to affirm the role of the Trade Union organization in spreading human values and sustainable community development.
