Training on knowledge on Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Hygiene in Dong Thap

On September 16-17, in Sa Dec ward (Dong Thap province), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) coordinated with the Dong Thap Provincial Federation of Labor to organize a conference on knowledge training on Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Hygiene.

Speaking at the opening of the training conference, Ms. Ho Thi Kim Ngan - Member of the Executive Committee, Deputy Head of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor - emphasized: This is an opportunity for Trade Union officials working in Environmental Protection, Occupational Safety and Hygiene, occupational safety and hygiene of enterprises to discuss, share and grasp the basic contents of the Law on Environmental Protection; policies and laws on environmental protection and safety and hygiene; responsibilities and powers of grassroots Trade Unions in environmental protection and occupational safety and hygiene".

This is also an opportunity for the occupational safety and hygiene team to improve their knowledge of environmental protection, ensure occupational safety and hygiene, contribute to environmental protection, prevent and limit occupational accidents and diseases at the workplace.

During the 2 days of training, union officials and officials working on occupational safety and hygiene at enterprises were informed by officials and lecturers of the Labor Relations Department of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment on topics related to the basic contents of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020; basic contents on occupational safety and hygiene, policies and laws on environmental protection and safety, occupational hygiene; impacts of environmental pollution on workers' health and measures to reduce environmental pollution to protect workers; responsibilities and powers of grassroots trade unions and the operation of the occupational safety and hygiene network in environmental protection and safety, occupational hygiene...

Through the training, it aims to help grassroots union officials, safety and hygiene to effectively implement measures to improve working conditions, limit occupational accidents and diseases, protect the health and lives of workers. Thereby, contributing to promoting the development of production and business, increasing labor productivity, affirming the role and enhancing the position of trade unions in occupational safety and hygiene. At the same time, support union officials to effectively carry out the task of protecting the legitimate rights of workers, creating a safe working environment in the coming time.

For union members and workers - those who directly participate in production and live in industrial parks, factories, and production facilities, equipping themselves with knowledge and skills on environmental protection is extremely important. Simple actions such as classifying waste at source, reducing the use of plastic items at one time, saving electricity and water... not only help protect the environment but also contribute to building a safe, healthy and efficient working environment" - environmental expert Nguyen Thi Van Anh said.

At the end of the training program, the Conference summarized, evaluated the quality and awarded the Certificate of Completion of the training course to raise awareness of Environmental Protection and Occupational Safety and Hygiene to officers working in occupational safety, hygiene and hygiene.
