HCMC promotes the construction of a modern 4-storey intersection in the East
Ho Chi Minh City - The Go Cong intersection connecting to Ring Road 3 is designed with a scale of 4 floors, including many overpasses and underpasses, helping to increase traffic connectivity for the East of Ho Chi Minh City.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision approving the plan to organize a competition for the architectural plan of Go Cong Intersection, part of component project 2: Complete investment in Go Cong intersection and branch connecting Hanoi Highway to this intersection on Ring Road 3.
Go Cong intersection is located at the intersection between Ring Road 3 and Nguyen Xien Street, in Long Phuoc Ward, with a total land use area of about 24.87 hectares.
The project is designed as a 4-storey intersection, combined with a round island, with branches N1, N2, N3, N4, each branch has 2 lanes.
In addition, the project will invest in a 4-lane overpass on Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3. Build an underpass on the branch connecting Hanoi Highway to Long Phuoc connecting to Dong Nai 2 Bridge.
The architectural design competition aims to select optimal, feasible, modern and unique solutions, contributing to creating an architectural highlight for Ring Road 3.
The exam is open, with no limit on the number of participating units, units and consulting organizations after registration will be assessed for their capacity before entering the design product implementation round. The admission council will evaluate, rank and choose the most optimal option to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval.
The contestants are companies, organizations or consulting consortia with expertise in architecture, planning, transportation - bridges and roads, meeting technical capacity and experience according to the law.
Component project 2 has a budget of about 5,329 billion VND. In addition to Go Cong intersection, the project also builds a road connecting from Tram 2 intersection (on Hanoi Highway) to Go Cong intersection, nearly 5.9 km long.
This route is planned to be 107 m to 120 m wide, initially building two parallel routes, a total of 6 lanes (3 lanes on each side). The land in the middle is for future expansion reserves.
In addition, the project also builds an overpass at the intersection of Le Van Viet Street and D1 Street (each location has 2 units, each unit has 3 lanes); Go Cong Canal Overpass (2 units, each unit has 3 lanes); Trau Trau Canal Overpass consists of 4 units (2 units have 3 lanes and 2 units have 4 lanes).
Component project 1 on compensation, support and resettlement has a budget of about VND 7,111 billion, related to the land recovery of 458 households, of which 218 households were cleared and 240 households were partially cleared.
The site clearance work is expected to be carried out from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter of 2026, starting the project in the first quarter of 2027 and completing in the fourth quarter of 2028.
When put into operation, the project will directly connect Ring Road 3 with Ring Road 2, improve the efficiency of exploiting the transport infrastructure in the East, while relieving bottlenecks and reducing increasing traffic pressure at the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
