HCMC streamlines apparatus, many departments must reduce deputy directors by half
HCMC - Many departments and branches of HCMC must strongly reduce deputy directors, some places reduce them by half, striving to complete in 2026.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has just issued a conclusion on the number of deputy heads for specialized agencies under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
According to the conclusion, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Office is assigned a maximum of 10 deputy levels.
Some departments have a maximum framework of 8 deputy levels including: Department of Finance, Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City, Department of Construction, Department of Home Affairs.
The Departments of Education and Training, Health, Culture and Sports and the Ho Chi Minh City Inspectorate are arranged with no more than 6 deputy levels.
The group of departments and branches has a maximum of 5 deputy levels including: Department of Justice, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology.
The Departments of Planning - Architecture, Tourism, Ethnicity and Religion are arranged with a maximum of 3 deputy heads. The Department of Food Safety alone has no more than 2 deputy heads.
The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee assigned the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to lead and organize the implementation of the conclusion; at the same time, coordinate with the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to review and develop a roadmap to reduce the number of deputy heads at agencies with the number exceeding the prescribed framework. This arrangement and consolidation is expected to be completed in 2026.
During the implementation process, in case the agencies have additional functions and tasks, leading to the need to adjust the number of deputies to meet working requirements, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee will coordinate with the Organizing Committee of the City Party Committee and relevant agencies to review, evaluate, and report to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee for consideration and decision according to its authority and current regulations.
Thus, many departments and branches in Ho Chi Minh City will have to reduce the number of deputy directors to comply with the new regulatory framework.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City currently has 16 deputy directors, which will be reduced to 8. The Department of Construction currently has 11 deputy directors, expected to decrease to 8.
