Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc receives Thu Thiem households
HCMC - Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc, together with leaders of the Government Inspectorate and the Central Citizen Reception Committee, received representatives of Thu Thiem households.
On December 29, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee held a meeting with representatives of households with complaints, recommendations, and reflections related to the Thu Thiem New Urban Area.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were Deputy Inspector General of the Government Le Sy Bay, Head of the Central Citizen Reception Committee Nguyen Hong Diep and Vice Chairmen of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Hoang Nguyen Dinh and Tran Van Bay.
At the meeting, representatives of Thu Thiem households presented many recommendations related to compensation policies, resettlement support and the implementation of the Government Inspectorate's conclusion notices for the Thu Thiem New Urban Area project.
Providing more information at the meeting with the people, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Le Sy Bay said that the Government Inspectorate under the direction of the Prime Minister has organized many inspection and verification teams.
The inspection conclusions were issued on the basis of sufficient legal basis and documentary evidence, with the opinions of many ministries, branches and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City. After issuance, the conclusions are sent to relevant agencies and made public for people and the press to follow.
The Deputy Inspector General of the Government hopes that households affected by the project will acknowledge, share and support the efforts of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in the past time; at the same time, request the city to fully absorb the legitimate opinions and proposals of the people, promptly consider, resolve and respond appropriately within its authority.

Concluding the meeting, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc affirmed that the limitations and shortcomings in the implementation of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area have been clearly pointed out by the Government Inspectorate in a public and transparent manner and have been closely directed by the Central Government, directly the Prime Minister.
Ho Chi Minh City has seriously received, complied with and fully implemented the conclusions of the Government Inspectorate as well as the direction of the Prime Minister; frankly acknowledged the shortcomings, promptly corrected and overcome them in accordance with regulations.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee expressed his sympathy for the difficulties of households and families whose land was recovered; at the same time, he respectfully acknowledged the contributions of the people for the common goal of building and developing the city more civilized and modern.
The city has reviewed, issued and implemented many additional policies towards ensuring the legitimate and legal rights and interests of the people within the legal framework, including Decision No. 70/2025/QD-UBND on supplementing a number of policies beneficial to the people.
According to the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Thu Thiem New Urban Area is of special importance to the city's development future, planned to become a high-end financial, commercial and service center, of regional and international stature. This is also a cultural and entertainment center with a system of squares, parks, theaters, children's palaces and modern community living spaces.
When completed, the Thu Thiem New Urban Area will contribute to creating a civilized urban area, improving the quality of life for people, becoming a driving force for socio-economic development and enhancing the competitiveness of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized.
The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee hopes that people will continue to sympathize, understand and share with the city about the urgent requirement of land recovery to implement projects for the common development future.
The Thu Thiem new urban area has a total area of 930 hectares.
Regarding compensation and support, the entire project has 14,357 records. To date, Ho Chi Minh City has reclaimed 14,286 land, equivalent to 713.9 hectares.
There are currently 68 real estate records of households and individuals that have not been handed over, with an area of about 2.59 hectares.
