Ho Chi Minh City starts a series of major projects to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress: Aiming for the benefit of the people
Key infrastructure projects of Ho Chi Minh City will start construction on January 15 to celebrate the 14th National Party Congress. This is not only a meaningful activity before an important event of the country but also directly contributes to improving the quality of life, creating practical values towards the enjoyment of the people, bringing personal development opportunities to all people in the city.
convenient transportation - The key to enjoying life
One of the great values that these projects bring to the people is the significant improvement in transport infrastructure. Works such as Metro Line 2, Phu My 2 Bridge, and Can Gio Bridge not only solve traffic congestion, but also help reduce travel time, creating conditions for people to enjoy life more comfortably.
Metro No. 2, when completed in 2030, will connect the central area of Ho Chi Minh City with the Northwest gateway, helping millions of people easily move through key areas of the city. Reducing the load on existing routes will not only reduce travel time but also help reduce air pollution and noise - an important factor for people's health and quality of life. When the public transport system is developed synchronously, people will have many convenient and safe transportation options, reduce dependence on personal vehicles, thereby improving the quality of life.
According to Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hien - Deputy Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR), the project will be implemented from 2026 to 2030, expected to be put into operation in December 2030.
MAUR leaders said that from the fact that Metro Line 1 took more than 12 years to complete nearly 20km, Ho Chi Minh City has learned many important lessons to apply to Metro Line 2 and its successors. Notably, the National Assembly and the Government have issued many new mechanisms, including Resolution 188, allowing increased decentralization and delegation of authority to Ho Chi Minh City and investors, thereby shortening procedures and speeding up progress. This is the first project to apply a special mechanism according to Resolution 188 of the National Assembly - Mr. Hien emphasized.
Regarding site clearance - once a "bottleneck" of metro No. 1 - Ho Chi Minh City, this content has been separated into separate packages and implemented early. At the same time, converting capital from ODA to public investment helps the City be proactive in finances, avoiding dependence, thereby speeding up the implementation progress. "With the new mechanism, new capital and new approaches, metro No. 2 has a basis to complete on schedule by 2030" - Mr. Hien affirmed.
Phu My 2 Bridge and Can Gio Bridge, with large-scale construction projects, will expand the city's development space, reduce traffic pressure and create new routes, connecting the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai and the Can Gio sea area. This will not only help reduce congestion but also promote economic, tourism and trade development in suburban areas...
Healthy living environment and public utilities
In particular, projects such as Rach Chiec Sports Park are not only large-scale sports projects but also create a large community living space, serving the needs of entertainment, recreation and health care for people. This sports area will be a multi-purpose sports center, with stadiums, gymnasiums, water sports centers, tennis and medical facilities such as sports hospitals.
This is a space that not only serves professional athletes but is also an ideal place for people to participate in sports activities and exercise. The development of public sports areas helps people easily access health care and entertainment services, contributing to improving the quality of life, reducing stress, improving physical and mental health.
Along with that, parks, squares and green trees and water surfaces in the project area will be ideal places for Ho Chi Minh City residents to enjoy the fresh air and relax after stressful working hours. These spaces not only help beautify urban landscapes but also create a healthy living environment, promoting mental and physical health for the community.
Creating opportunities for career and education development
The people's enjoyment is also reflected in the fact that these projects create opportunities for career development and education for the younger generation. The Rach Chiec Sports Park project, with a huge scale, is not only a place to organize major sporting events but also a sports training center, providing learning and training opportunities for young talents. This will be a place to train athletes, coaches, as well as experts in the field of sports, creating a solid foundation for professional development for future generations.
In addition, the construction of conference centers, exhibition areas and other public service facilities at Rach Chiec Sports Complex will also promote the service industry, creating many job opportunities in fields such as event organization, sports management, tourism, restaurants, hotels and other related industries. This contributes to improving the quality of life for people, helping them have the opportunity to develop their careers and stabilize their income.
Developing the economy in suburban areas, reducing inequality
Traffic works such as Can Gio Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge not only serve convenient travel for people but also open up development opportunities for suburban areas. Can Gio Bridge, connecting Nha Be and Can Gio, will replace Binh Khanh ferry, creating a more smooth and convenient connection. This is especially meaningful in promoting tourism, developing new urban areas, and at the same time creating opportunities for people in suburban areas to access the city's convenient services.
Upgrading transport infrastructure and improving connectivity between central and suburban areas will help reduce inequality in access to economic, educational and medical development opportunities. People in suburban areas will have the opportunity to participate in economic, trade and service activities, contributing to promoting comprehensive development for the whole city.
By targeting the specific needs of the people and developing synchronous infrastructure, Ho Chi Minh City will become a livable city.

* Dr. Tran Quang Thang - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Economics and Management - said that these are all "bottleneck - anchor" projects that have been stalled for many years due to problems with mechanisms, capital and procedures. The official implementation demonstrates the high political determination of the Central Government and Ho Chi Minh City in putting the Party's resolutions into practice, especially the policies on infrastructure breakthroughs and regional linkages. Dr. Tran Quang Thang emphasized that the 4 projects represent the 4 key development pillars of Ho Chi Minh City in the new period, from large-volume public transportation, inter-regional connectivity - logistics, expanding marine economic space to upgrading national cultural - sports infrastructure.
