HCMC speeds up construction of a 4-lane 6-lane elevated road connecting the center with the South
HCMC - Binh Tien Bridge and Road is more than 3 km long, with a scale of 4 - 6 lanes, and is required to submit a feasibility study report for approval in January.
Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong has just directed relevant departments and branches to urgently complete procedures to soon implement the Binh Tien bridge and road project - one of the city's important traffic axes.
The Binh Tien Bridge and Road Project (from Pham Van Chi Street to Nguyen Van Linh Street) has been approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for investment since April 2025, with a total investment of nearly VND6,300 billion, divided into 2 component projects.
Component project 1 focuses on compensation, support and resettlement, with a total investment of more than VND 3,369 billion. The project needs to reclaim about 21.27 hectares of land, affecting 389 households.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently organize the appraisal of the feasibility study report, submit it to the City People's Committee for approval before January 31, 2026, requesting no delay.

Component project 2 is the construction of Binh Tien bridge and road, with a total investment of more than VND 2,915 billion.
The road bridge is about 3.66 km long, starting from the intersection of Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi road (formerly District 6, now Binh Tien ward) and ending at the intersection with Nguyen Van Linh road (formerly Binh Chanh district, now Binh Hung commune).
Binh Tien Bridge and Road consists of two main parts. The elevated road is about 3.1 km long, with a scale of 4 to 6 lanes, starting from Pham Van Chi Street, crossing Tau Hu Canal, running elevately through Phu Dinh Ward, crossing Doi Canal and crossing Nguyen Van Linh Street to connect with the road connecting National Highway 50.
Below is a parallel road system, 2 to 6 lanes wide, contributing to increasing traffic capacity for the area.
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Construction to urgently appraise the feasibility study report of component project 2, and advise on submitting it to the City People's Committee for approval before January 31, 2026. The appraisal must closely follow the legal boundaries of the project approved by the City, ensure technical factors in accordance with the documents approved by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for investment policy, ensure consistency and compliance with current regulations.

At the same time, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also assigned the People's Committee of Binh Hung Commune to urgently approve the adjustment of the Detailed Urban Construction Planning Project at a scale of 1/5000 of the New Urban Area of Nam Thanh City and the Detailed Urban Construction Planning Project at a scale of 1/2000 of Area 11A - Functional Area No. 11, to be completed before January 30, 2026 in accordance with regulations.
According to the plan, the project will officially start construction in 2026 and be completed in the third quarter of 2027.
Currently, the connection between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the southern regions mainly depends on some routes such as Nguyen Huu Tho, Duong Ba Trac, Pham Hung, National Highway 50... These routes are often overloaded, especially during rush hour and holidays and Tet.
As a strategic traffic axis, Binh Tien Bridge and Road is expected to share pressure on existing routes, significantly improve the connectivity capacity between the center of Ho Chi Minh City and the South of Saigon and Hiep Phuoc areas, and create an important connecting axis with the future Ring Roads 2, Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4.
