Prime Minister honors forces to overcome the consequences of earthquakes in Myanmar

Vietnam's high sense of responsibility towards the international community

On the evening of April 9, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a ceremony to commend the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) and the Vietnam People's Public Security (VPA) forces to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake and completing the mission of returning home.

Also attending were Politburo members: Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; General Phan Van Giang - Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security.

After finishing the activity to support Myanmar in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake, the rescue forces of the Vietnam People's Army and People's Public Security, consisting of 106 officers and soldiers (of which the Ministry of National Defense has 80 officers and soldiers; the Ministry of Public Security has 26 officers and soldiers) returned to Vietnam on the evening of April 8.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that with the tradition of humanity of the nation, with the spirit of Vietnam being a friend, a trustworthy partner, a responsible member of the international community, Vietnam has sent 2 working groups with a total of 106 elite officers and soldiers with experience in rescue to participate in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar. This demonstrates the noble international spirit and high sense of responsibility of our country.

"The deployment of rescue forces and support to overcome the consequences of earthquakes in Myanmar immediately after 24 hours shows the progress, capacity, and responsibility of our country in the face of non-traditional security issues, which are highly appreciated by the international community" - the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the promotion of solidarity, discipline, confidence, fearless of hardship, and running against time in rescue work in the host country.

The two forces discovered and brought many victims out of the rubble, demonstrating a spirit of urgency and high responsibility. This has left Myanmar with a good impression on the Vietnamese rescue team.

Spreading the good culture of the nation

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the sending of Vietnam's rescue forces to the international community affirms the role, position, potential, quick response capacity, and importance of our country in the face of important incidents in the world and the region.

This also affirms that the Vietnamese people have a tradition of mutual love, international solidarity, loyal love, helping each other, expressing our national culture, not only national love, compatriotism but also compassion, humanity towards international friends, impartiality and purity.

According to the Prime Minister, the recent incident also affirms the growth and maturity of the Vietnamese army and police, confidence, and enough courage to respond and adapt to carry out tasks in very difficult conditions. This demonstrates the heroic nature of the Vietnam People's Army and the Vietnam People's Public Security.

Reporting at the ceremony, Major General Pham Van Ty - Deputy Director of the Department of Rescue, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the Rescue Team of the Ministry of National Defense - reported the results of overcoming Vietnam's earthquake consequences in Myanmar.

In Naypyidaw, the Rescue Team of the Vietnam People's Army was assigned to search for missing people in 3 areas: Bala Tidi Apartment Complex, Ottara Thiri Hospital and Aye Chan Thar Hotel.

The team discovered and brought out 21 bodies; coordinated with the Turkish rescue team to save the life of a 26-year-old man and handed him over to the victim's family in the respect of local people and Myanmar rescue forces.

Colonel Nguyen Minh Khuong - Deputy Director of the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department, Head of the Ministry of Public Security's working delegation - said that the Ministry of Public Security's working delegation directly brought 7 victims' bodies to the collapsed area, and participated in coordinating to locate and support functional forces and other international delegations to bring the 7 victims and hand them over to families and authorities.

The Ministry of Public Security has provided 2 batches of medicine, medical equipment, necessities, and accommodation items (tents, personal beds, blankets, pillows, curtains, etc.) to Myanmar with a total volume of more than 10 tons.

The report of the Vietnamese rescue force participating in overcoming the consequences of the earthquake in Myanmar said that the Myanmar side highly appreciated and appreciated the activities of the Vietnamese delegation in the context of devastated hospitals in the capital Myanmar, lacking medicine and medical equipment.
