Prime Minister directly visits Dat Mui to inspect Hon Khoai island projects
Ca Mau - On December 28, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the construction works in the Southwest sea area of Dat Mui commune.
The Ca Mau - Dat Mui Expressway, the traffic route to Hon Khoai Island and the Hon Khoai dual-use port were started by Ca Mau province in coordination with the Ministry of National Defense on August 19, 2025 under the emergency mechanism. According to the plan, the expressway is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2028; the remaining two projects will be completed in mid-2029.
In order to create the most favorable conditions for construction works, Ca Mau province has completed site clearance of over 95%. The province also decided to convert 31 hectares of forest land to other purposes.
For the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway project, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province decided to change the purpose of use of a total of 21.97 hectares of forest land. Of which, the area of protective forests accounts for 6.14 hectares and production forests for 15.83 hectares. For the Project to invest in the construction of a traffic road to Hon Khoai Island, convert 9.85 hectares of protective forest land to implement the project.
At the construction site, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised the urgent working spirit of construction units, investors, and leaders of Ca Mau province. The Prime Minister said that these are projects of great significance, when put into use, it will create conditions for Ca Mau to become the southernmost point of the Fatherland.
The Prime Minister welcomed and commended the working spirit of the units and requested that construction must ensure safety.
According to the Prime Minister, these works are of great significance. Therefore, Party committees and authorities need to stick closer to coordination, promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in the spirit of ensuring the set progress.
The Prime Minister also suggested that the locality open more roads and plans to fully exploit the potential and advantages of the project, especially tourism development.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented many gifts to workers and units directly involved in the construction of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway project, the overpass connecting the mainland to Hon Khoai and the Hon Khoai double-use port.
