The Governor of the State Bank was introduced as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly

Based on the announcement of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the regulations and instructions of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on the expected introduction of personnel to run for National Assembly deputies, on January 18, the State Bank held a conference to collect opinions from voters at the workplace with comrade Nguyen Thi Hong - Member of the Party Central Committee, Member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Governor of the State Bank to introduce the candidate for the 16th National Assembly, term 2026-2031.

At the conference, voters listened to a summary of the biography of Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and were informed of the provisions of the law on standards and conditions for running for National Assembly deputies.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong is a well-trained cadre, with strong political will, pure moral qualities, exemplary lifestyle, and high prestige in the Party and the political system.

Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong was born in 1968, from Hanoi. She received professional training in Foreign Exchange Management (the Banking Professional College is now the Banking Academy); Master's degree in Development Economics (National Economics University and Institute of Social Sciences of the Netherlands). Political theory qualification: Senior.

From January 1991 to present, comrade Nguyen Thi Hong has participated in many leadership and management positions at the SBV. Since November 2020, comrade Nguyen Thi Hong has been approved by the National Assembly to hold the position of Governor of the State Bank.

For her contributions during her work, Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong was awarded the Third Class Labor Medal in 2013, the Second Class Labor Medal in 2018; the First Class Labor Medal in 2025; and Certificates of Merit to the Prime Minister in 2011, 2019, and 2021.

At the Conference, voters assessed that Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong had sufficient qualities, abilities and standards to represent the voice of the industry in running for the highest legislative body of the country.

Voters highly appreciated Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong's important contributions to the development of the banking industry. In particular, in the recent term, facing many unprecedented difficulties and challenges, but with a scientific, democratic, profound leadership style, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong has demonstrated the role and courage of a leader, always setting an example, together with the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the State Bank of Vietnam to unite, reach consensus, lead, direct, operate and organize the synchronous, creative, timely and highly effective implementation of the policies and resolutions of the Party and State, the strategies and plans of the industry, excellently completing assigned duties and tasks. The results achieved by the banking sector have contributed positively to macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and supporting economic growth.

The monetary and foreign exchange markets are stable; the legal institutions on currency and banking have been gradually improved, contributing to removing bottlenecks, ensuring safe and healthy banking operations; mandatory transfer of 04 weak commercial banks (after one year of implementation, these banks have operated stably, initially with profits or reduced losses); proactively and pioneering in digital transformation and innovation; promoting administrative reform; being one of the first ministries and branches to complete the reorganization of the organization and apparatus in a streamlined, effective and efficient direction, ensuring smooth, safe operations, without interruption, without affecting businesses and people.

As a member of the Government, head of the banking sector, Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong always shows a high sense of responsibility, prepares carefully and receptively during questioning sessions at the National Assembly, listens to and promptly resolves recommendations from voters and businesses.

Voters assessed that Comrade Nguyen Thi Hong has the capacity to lead and manage the macro economy, strategic vision, the ability to effectively forecast and handle complex, sensitive and urgent issues; at the same time, regularly contribute opinions in shaping guidelines and policies and detecting and proposing practical issues for competent authorities to consider and decide. Through the voting of confidence at the National Assembly and the State Bank, comrade Nguyen Thi Hong has always achieved high trust.

After democratic discussion, 100% of SBV voters unanimously introduced comrade Nguyen Thi Hong as a candidate for the 16th National Assembly. Immediately afterwards, the SBV continued to organize the expanded SBV Leadership Conference and the Collective Conference of the SBV Party Committee Standing Committee in accordance with regulations. The conferences once again agreed to introduce comrade Nguyen Thi Hong to run for the 16th National Assembly.

The fact that Governor Nguyen Thi Hong was nominated by 100% of voters at her workplace to run for National Assembly deputies not only meets all the conditions and standards to shoulder the responsibility of National Assembly deputies, but also demonstrates the trust and expectations of the agency and unit for the personal contribution of Governor Nguyen Thi Hong to the activities of the 16th National Assembly, aiming to build legal policies and resolve important issues in the new era of the country.
