Special notice on the funeral of comrade Khamtay Siphandone
Vietnam will hold a funeral for comrade Khamtay Siphandone according to the National Funeral Rites for 2 days, from April 4 to 5, 2025.
The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front announced:
Comrade Khamtay Siphandone; born on February 8, 1924; former Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, former President, former Prime Minister, former Deputy Prime Minister, former Minister of National Defense of the Lao People's Democratic Republic passed away at 10:30 a.m. on April 2, 2025, at the age of 101.
Mr. Khamtay Siphandone is one of the pioneering leaders in the construction of the revolutionary path of Laos. He and other seniors organized, led the revolutionary movement and won consecutive victories, brought the Lao revolution to the day of winning, gradually bringing the country of Laos firmly to the goal of socialism. He is an extremely close, close friend of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, always caring and has many great merits, making an important contribution to the construction, consolidation and development of great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation in Vietnam - Laos during the past time.
His passing is a huge loss for Laos and the Vietnam - Laos relationship.
In order to show mourning comrade Khamtay Siphandone and derived from the special relationship between Vietnam and Laos, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front decided to mourn the mourning of KHAMTAY SIPTAY SIPHANDOne from the 4th and 4th National Fun
