About 360kg bomb discovered on the bank of a stream in Quang Binh
Quang Binh - On April 9, the MAG Bomb and Mining Advisory Group in Vietnam said that it had just completed the handling of a bomb weighing about 360kg in Lam Hoa commune (Tuyen Hoa district).
Previously, when Mr. Hoang Quang Huy - a resident of Chuoi village (Lam Hoa commune) - was visiting the fields, he discovered a large bomb lying on the bank of a stream.
Mr. Huy immediately informed the local authorities about the incident. This is not the first time Mr. Huy has discovered bombs in this area. He also discovered and reported a bomb near his home in 2012.
Immediately after receiving the information, the bomb and mine handling team of the MAG organization arrived at the scene.
After inspection, experts determined that this was an M117 bomb, weighing about 360kg, with a lethality of up to more than 1.5km.
After about 1 hour and 20 minutes of deployment, the bomb was safely treated and transferred to a centralized detention warehouse.
The bomb is expected to be completely destroyed in the coming days, along with other explosives.
