The resource forecast is that more than 10 tons of gold and nearly 16.5 tons of silver were discovered during the implementation of the Central Central Project.

Implementing the Project "Overall assessment of mineral potential in the Central Central region to serve socio-economic development" (Central Central Project), the Director of the Department of Geology and Mineral Resources discovered 12 areas of gold, with resources forecast to be more than 10 tons of gold and nearly 16.5 tons of silver; identified 11 large-scale prospects for further detailed assessment.

This information was given at a meeting between Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien and the Vietnam Geological and Mineral Industries Administration.

According to Mr. Tran Binh Trong, Director of the Department of Geology and Mineral Resources of Vietnam, the Central Central Ministry Project was assigned by the Ministry to the Department to be implemented from 2020 with the goal of comprehensively assessing mineral potential, classifying areas with potential for mine discovery, assessing resources, determining the quality of minerals, focusing on the group of metal minerals, energy minerals, industrial minerals, and block stones used as a basis for socio-economic development.

Mr. Duong Ngoc Tinh (Central Central Geological Federation), Head of the Project, said that up to now, the Vietnam Geology and Mineral Resources Administration has investigated and summarized the current status of 32 gold mine areas, in which it has assessed the remaining resources of one mine transferred to local management and planning for exploration and exploitation.

The project has also preliminarily assessed the ratio of 1:25,000 in 6 copper ore areas, detecting and characterizing two large-scale potential areas to move on to detailed assessment. In particular, new discoveries have been made and detailed assessments of the two copper mine areas are being conducted. The resources are forecast to be at present level 333+334a, reaching 154,379.2 tons of metal copper.

The project has conducted detailed assessments in 7 areas with industrial minerals, the results have identified resources and classified large-scale industrial mineral areas with sufficient facilities for transferring exploration and exploitation.

Comparing with the assigned specific goals, the leader of the Vietnam Geological and Mineral Resources Administration said that the Component Projects have discovered and evaluated resource potential, creating sufficient basis for transferring auction rights to explore and exploit minerals in 26/45 mines, including 3/8-10 mineral and metal mine areas, 06/10-15 industrial mineral mines and 17/20-25 paving stone mines. At the same time, it discovered and transferred to explore 2-3 potential areas of uranium ore.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Quy Kien assessed that the investigation results of the Central Central Ministry Project have high economic value, clarifying the potential of mineral resources in the Central Central region, serving the implementation of the General Socio-Economic Development Planning as well as the Planning for exploration, exploitation, processing and use of minerals.

The Deputy Minister suggested that the Vietnam Geological and Mineral Services Department direct construction units to urgently review the workload based on new findings on geology and minerals, areas where proposed mineral assessments are large-scale to propose appropriate adjustments, meeting the set targets and achieving high investment efficiency.
