Hue builds new walking path when the old project is still not completed
HUE - Hue implemented a pedestrian project along the Huong River worth more than 35 billion VND, while the route along the Nhu Y River is still unfinished.
On April 14, Mr. Duong Quang Hien - Deputy Director in charge of the Thuan Hoa District Green Park Center (Hue City) said that the unit is implementing a walking road project along the banks of the Huong River, from the Toa Kham boat dock to the foot of the Dap Da bridge.
The project is 460m long, 6m wide, designed with a combination of a walking path and a bicycle path, with a total investment of more than 35 billion VND. The project started in January 2025, and is expected to be completed in 3 years.
The project includes items such as water supply and drainage systems and lighting, to meet the needs of use. The implementation aims to contribute to urban beautification, creating ecological landscapes and tourist attractions.
When completed, the route will connect with the walking path along the Nhu Y River (under the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project) with a total cost of more than 267 billion VND. This route passes through Phu Hoi and Xuan Phu wards, 1.6km long, 6m wide, stretching from Dap Da to Van Duong bridge.
However, the Nhu Y River walking path project is still unfinished. The Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project Management Board (investor) said that the project started construction in July 2023, and is scheduled to be completed in June 2024.

Explaining why the Nhu Y River walking path project has not been completed but continues to implement additional routes along the Huong River, the Hue City Water Environment Improvement Project Management Board (Project Management Board) said that these are two different projects, implemented by two different investors.
The main reason for the delay is that many bidding packages have to adjust capital structure because the Yen exchange rate (Japan) has decreased sharply. The project's loan agreement expires on June 30, 2024. After disbursing all ODA capital in the agreement, the total remaining capital is about VND 249.509 billion (including construction items, equipment and consulting services).
On April 14, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, the leader of the Project Management Board informed that many packages have been allocated capital. For the Nhu Y River pedestrian and embankment project alone, the remaining value to be completed is 25.85 billion VND.
"The important thing is that the capital has been allocated, we are currently rushing to implement the project to complete it by the end of 2025" - said the leader of the Project Management Board.
