Hue plans to reduce the number of administrative units at the commune and ward levels by 50%

On April 9, according to information from the Department of Home Affairs of Hue City, with the plan to arrange and reorganize grassroots-level administrative units, the city will reduce about 50% of the number of commune and ward-level administrative units.

Currently, Hue City has 133 communes, wards and towns, with the plan to arrange and reorganize grassroots-level administrative units, the city will reduce to 66 commune-level administrative units, including 32 wards and 34 communes.

According to the proposed plan, Hue City will keep 12 administrative units at the commune and ward levels.

Phong Dien town has 3 commune-level administrative units, wards are expected to remain the same, including Phong Thu ward, Phong Hien ward and Phong Hai ward.

Phu Xuan District has 1 commune-level administrative unit, the ward is expected to remain the same as Long Ho Ward.

Thuan Hoa District has 4 commune-level administrative units, wards are expected to remain the same, including Thuan An Ward, Duong No Ward, Thuy Xuan Ward and Thuy Bang Ward.

Huong Thuy town has 2 commune-level administrative units, wards are expected to remain the same, including Thuy Luong ward and Thuy Chau ward.

Phu Loc district has 2 administrative units at the ward and commune level that are expected to remain the same, including Loc Dien commune and Lang Co town.

With the proposed plan, Hue City has 2 cases of merging 4 grassroots administrative units: merging Thuan Loc, Thuan Hoa, Tay Loc and Dong Ba wards (Phu Xuan district) into a new ward and merging Huong Phu, Huong Loc, Thuong Lo communes and Khe Tre town (Phu Loc district) into a new commune.

Among the cases expected to merge 3 administrative units, in Phong Dien town, Phong Hoa ward and Phong Binh and Phong Chuong communes are expected to be merged into a new ward.

In Huong Tra town, Huong Binh, Binh Tien and Binh Thanh communes are expected to merge into a new commune.

In Phu Loc district, it is expected to merge Loc Son town and Loc Bon and Loc An communes; merge Loc Tri, Loc Binh communes and Phu Loc town; merge Loc Tien, Loc Vinh and Loc Thuy communes; merge Thuong Quang, Thuong Long and Huong Huu communes; merge Huong Xuan, Thuong Nhat and Huong Son communes.

In Thuan Hoa district, it is expected to merge Phu Hoi, Phu Nhuan and Vinh Ninh wards. In addition, Phu Thuong ward (Thuan Hoa district) is expected to be merged with Phu An and Phu My communes (Phu Vang district).

It is known that this is only the first step in the process of completing the project to reorganize the grassroots administrative unit in Hue City. The city government will organize a public consultation to absorb and adjust, in order to create high consensus before submitting to competent authorities for approval.
