Limiting traffic on La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway throughout Tet
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board will implement a temporary traffic organization plan on the La Son Hoa Lien Expressway throughout Tet.
Faced with the risk of landslides due to prolonged rain, the temporary traffic organization plan on the La Son - Hoa Lien expressway will continue to be maintained during and after the Lunar New Year 2026 to ensure safety for people and vehicles passing through. Traffic restrictions are being implemented on the basis of assessing unsafe risks, especially in steep passes, high slopes and areas at risk of landslides.
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board said that the continuous rain in Hue city and Da Nang city has caused a high risk of landslides on the route. Night is more risky due to limited visibility and difficulty controlling terrain. Therefore, the temporary traffic organization plan continues to be applied to minimize accidents and incidents.
According to the currently implemented plan, passenger cars and trucks on 6 axles are not allowed to travel on the route during the application period from January 5, 2026 to 5:00 p.m. on March 5, 2026. The remaining vehicles are only allowed to circulate during the day, from 5am to 5pm every day. Outside this time, the entire route will be temporarily suspended to ensure safety. After the implementation period, the authorities will organize a comprehensive assessment to consider the opening plan in accordance with actual conditions.
The Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board recommends that local traffic police forces closely coordinate in traffic diversion, guidance and reminding drivers to comply with regulations. People are advised to proactively choose a safe alternative route when traveling through the Central region before, during and after Tet.
Previously, the La Son - Hoa Lien Expressway had repeatedly applied temporary traffic organization plans to cope with unfavorable weather. The limitation of passenger vehicles and heavy trucks and the control of daytime travel time are adjusted in stages, based on weather developments and safety conditions on the route. Continuing to maintain this plan is to protect the safety of traffic participants and limit damage caused by possible incidents.
