Hanoi is about to build another 655m long, 6-lane underpass in the inner city
Hanoi will build a direct underpass in the direction of Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe with a length of 655m, with a scale of 6 lanes in Tu Liem, Cau Giay and Yen Hoa wards.
Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Duong Duc Tuan has signed and issued Decision No. 6475/QD-UBND on approving the Investment Project to build an underpass at the intersection of Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe - Ring Road 3.
Accordingly, a direct underpass will be built in the direction of Me Tri - Duong Dinh Nghe with a scale of 6 lanes; the total length of the tunnel is 655m (of which the length of the closed tunnel L1 = 120m, the open tunnel L2 = 200m and 335m is the retaining wall, the edge of the road); the cross-section is BxH = 27mx7.4m in Tu Liem, Cau Giay and Yen Hoa wards.
The project is invested by the Hanoi Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
The project aims to resolve traffic conflicts, reduce traffic congestion at intersections, reduce costs and waiting time due to traffic congestion, reduce environmental pollution in urban areas, and gradually complete the traffic infrastructure system according to the approved plan, contributing to ensuring security, order, traffic safety and socio-economic development of the capital.
Organize the management and implementation of investment projects in accordance with the contents of this decision and the regulations of the State and Hanoi City on management of construction investment projects, management of construction quality, management of construction investment costs, investment supervision and evaluation, community supervision; implement investment projects on schedule and with quality according to current law.
The City People's Committee assigned the Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board and consulting units to be responsible before the law for the capacity of organizations and individuals to conduct surveys and prepare Feasibility Study Reports; the accuracy of the data in the Feasibility Study Report; the reasonableness of design solutions in the basic design of the investment project and the legality of the appraisal and approval dossier.
Organize investment project management and contractor selection in accordance with current State regulations on management of construction investment projects using State budget capital, bidding and contractor selection.
Coordinate with investors of related investment projects to agree on the design plan for items, ensure synchronous connection of technical infrastructure systems inside and outside the investment project area to improve investment efficiency, avoid duplication and waste; have appropriate construction organization measures, ensure traffic safety, labor safety, safety of neighboring works and minimize the impact on people's lives in the investment project area.
During the implementation of the investment project, temporarily receive infrastructure assets within the scope of the investment project; be responsible for ensuring smooth and safe traffic.
In Hanoi, there are currently a total of 4 underpasses in use, 2 under construction.
4 underpasses have been put into use at 4 major intersections including: Kim Lien, Trung Hoa, Thanh Xuan, Le Van Luong. The two tunnels under construction are the tunnel on Ring Road 2.5 at the Giai Phong - Kim Dong intersection (expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026) and the underpass at the Co Linh - Vinh Tuy intersection (expected to be completed in 2027).
