Hanoi to open road in Thanh Xuan ward, 40m wide
Hanoi - Thanh Xuan Ward will build a 0.95km long Ring Road 2.5 section with a cross-section of 40m.
Hanoi Ring Road 2.5 has a total length of about 19.64km, with a planned width of 40-50m. The starting point is at the Ciputra New Urban Area, ending at the intersection with Ring Road 3 (near Thanh Tri Bridge).
Up to now, the Ring Road 2.5 has been put into use in 5/13 sections with a length of 11.28km. Currently, 8/13 sections are being implemented with a length of more than 8km.
Regarding the Ring Road 2.5 project, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the Party Committee of the City People's Committee direct the City People's Committee, departments, branches, and the City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board; Party committees and authorities of wards must clearly identify political responsibilities to complete site clearance (GPMB) and complete the entire project in 2026.
In the 8 sections under implementation, Thanh Xuan ward is assigned to be the investor of the compensation, support and technical infrastructure project in the Nguy Nhu Kon Tum - Nguyen Trai section.
The Nguy Nhu Kon Tum to Nguyen Trai section is considered a key link in this project with a length of about 0.95km and a cross-section width of 40m. The starting point of the section is at the intersection between Hoang Dao Thuy Street and Nguy Nhu Kon Tum Street, extending and connecting directly to the Nguyen Trai arterial road axis. When completed, the section passing through Thanh Xuan ward will play a role in relieving huge traffic pressure for existing residential areas and creating a smooth connection between inner-city wards.
In addition to the section in Thanh Xuan, the project also includes two other sections in Cau Giay ward, the section of Dich Vong New Urban Area to Duong Dinh Nghe with a length of 0.71km and the section from Vu Pham Ham to Tran Duy Hung with a length of 0.6km. The synchronous combination of these sections will form a smooth traffic corridor through Cau Giay, Yen Hoa and Thanh Xuan wards, helping to significantly reduce the load on the current thorough-carrying roads.
To ensure the project reaches the finish line on schedule in the fourth quarter of 2026, localities are actively holding meetings with people to publicize the project and conduct preliminary inventories. In Thanh Xuan ward alone, the local government is closely coordinating with the people to organize the relocation of graves according to customs and practices, striving to complete this task before the 23rd of the 12th lunar month. This is a great effort to facilitate the construction work to begin as soon as the design plans and estimates are approved.
Currently, investors are coordinating with relevant agencies to separate the workload, ensuring no overlap with other projects in the area. After completing the procedures to start construction, the units will focus all resources to implement the construction as soon as the site is clean.
The urgent implementation of the Ring Road 2.5 project brings existing values close to the edge to the Thanh Xuan ward community, not just stopping at escaping traffic jams. Expanding the cross-section to 40m will open up an airy urban space, helping to reduce noise pollution and dust, which has been a result of congestion for many years. At the same time, the new route will create favorable conditions for business and service activities on the ground floors of townhouses and commercial centers to develop more vibrantly.
The completion of site clearance for this Ring Road 2.5 section is of great significance in removing traffic bottlenecks in Thanh Xuan area, contributing to completing the infrastructure traffic network of Hanoi Capital.
