Hanoi is about to start construction of 3 bridges across the Red River, 2 urban railway lines
Hanoi - It is expected that this year, the city will start construction of 3 bridges across the Red River including Tu Lien, Tran Hung Dao, Ngoc Hoi, along with 2 urban railway lines No. 2 and No. 5.
At a meeting with voters in Me Linh district, Soc Son before the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly recently, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh said that the city is determined to start the construction of Tu Lien bridge on the occasion of May 19.
This has been assigned by the Government to Hanoi, and related work is currently being reviewed daily.
Along with that, the city will start construction of Tran Hung Dao Bridge and Ngoc Hoi Bridge on August 19 and September 2.
The investment project to build Tu Lien bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge starts at the intersection with Nghi Tam street, Tay Ho district; the end point is at the intersection with axis TC13, Dong Anh district, the total length of the route is about 5.15km.
The road south of the bridge has a typical cross-section of 48m (including an approach bridge in the middle, a parallel urban service road and sidewalks on both sides of the road). The road north of the bridge has a typical cross-section of 60m.
The total preliminary investment of the project is VND 20,171 billion. The project will be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2027.

Tran Hung Dao Bridge is located between Chuong Duong Bridge and Vinh Tuy Bridge. The starting point is at the intersection of Tran Hung Dao - Tran Thanh Tong - Le Thanh Tong, the end point is at the intersection with Vu Duc Thuan Street.
The main bridge is 900m long, including 6 spans, the total length of the bridge and approach road is about 5.5km, passing through Hoan Kiem, Hai Ba Trung, Long Bien districts.
The project to build Tran Hung Dao bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge will be implemented in the period of 2025 - 2027, with a total investment of nearly 16,000 billion VND.
Ngoc Hoi Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge have a total length of about 7.5km, starting point connecting to the end point of the Ring Road 3.5 project (from Phuc La, Van Phu to Phap Van - Cau Gie Expressway), ending point connecting to Ring Road 3.5 in Van Giang district, Hung Yen province.
The cross-section is 80m (from the left Red dike to the end of the route is 60m), designed speed of 80 km/h.
The total investment of the project is about 11,844 billion VND, implemented in the period of 2025 - 2030.
In addition to the three projects mentioned above, according to the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, in 2025, the city will start construction of two more urban railway lines No. 2 and No. 5.
"We will focus on building the remaining routes, researching the overall design of the connecting routes. How can we basically start construction, inaugurate, and complete almost all major routes by 2035", said Mr. Tran Sy Thanh.
This, according to the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, will also contribute to solving social problems such as traffic, congestion, and pollution in the city, and at the same time be an opportunity to develop domestic enterprises, private enterprises, and ethnic enterprises.

Urban railway line No. 5 (Van Cao - Ngoc Khanh - Lang - Hoa Lac) passes through Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Cau Giay, Nam Tu Liem districts and Hoai Duc, Quoc Oai, Thach That districts.
Metro No. 5 is designed according to the standards of a 1,435 mm double track, over 38km long, of which 6.5km is underground, 2km is elevated and nearly 30km is on the ground.
The project has a total investment of 65,404 billion VND, using Hanoi City budget capital.
The route passes through 21 stations including: 6 underground stations, one elevated station and 14 ground stations. The project has two depots for gathering, maintaining, repairing ships and other technical tasks.
Urban railway line No. 2 (Nam Thang Long - Tran Hung Dao) is 11.5km long, including 8.9km underground and 2.6km above ground, with a total of 7 underground stations and 3 above ground stations.
Transportation includes 10 4-carry trains, 1,435mm double-track railway and 1 depot in Xuan Dinh - Bac Tu Liem.
The project has a total investment of more than 35,000 billion VND, an increase of more than 80% compared to the original estimate.
