Proposing new names for a series of wards and communes in Ho Chi Minh City after the reorganization
HCMC - District 5, District 6, Cu Chi, Hoc Mon and Can Gio have submitted a plan to merge commune-level administrative units and proposed new names for wards and communes after the arrangement.
District 5 merges 15 wards into 3 wards

Cho Quan Ward: Formed on the basis of merging wards 1, 2 and 4, with an area of 1.28 km2, population of about 63,545 people.
An Dong ward: Merge wards 5, 7 and 9, with an area of 1.32 km2, population of about 81,229 people.
Cho Lon Ward: Established from wards 11, 12, 13 and 14, with an area of 1.67 km2, population of about 85,066 people.
District 6 merges 14 wards into 5 wards

Binh Tien Ward: Including Wards 1, 7 and 8, with an area of 1.61 km2, population of about 66,707 people.
Binh Tay Ward: Including Wards 2 and 9, area of 1.05 km2, population of about 45,861 people.
Phu Dinh Ward: Including Ward 10 (District 6) and part of Ward 16 (District 8), area of 1.85 km2, population of about 35,064 people
Binh Phu Ward: Including Wards 11 and 12, area of 1.11 km2, population of about 59,795 people.
Phu Lam ward: Including wards 13 and 14, area 1.27 km2, population of about 45,985 people
Cu Chi district merges 21 communes and towns into 7 communes

An Nhon Tay commune: Merging Phu My Hung, An Phu and An Nhon Tay communes; area of 77.69 km2, population of about 40,896 people.
Thai My commune: Including Trung Lap Thuong, Thai My and Phuoc Thanh; area of 62.44 km2, population of 49,862 people.
Nhuan Duc commune: Including Nhuan Duc, Trung Lap Ha and Pham Van Coi; area of 62.05 km2, population of 40,239 people.
Tan An Hoi commune: Including Phuoc Hiep, Tan An Hoi and Cu Chi town; area 53.5 km2, population 84.342 people.
Cu Chi commune: Including Tan Phu Trung, Tan Thong Hoi and Phuoc Vinh An; area of 64.87 km2, population of 128,661 people.
Phu Hoa Dong commune: Including Tan Thanh Tay, Tan Thanh Dong and Phu Hoa Dong; area of 59.75 km2, population of 97,766 people.
Binh My commune: Including Binh My, Trung An and Hoa Phu; area of 54.43 km2, population of 99,675 people.
Hoc Mon district merges 11 communes and towns into 4 communes

Hoc Mon commune: Including Hoc Mon town, Tan Xuan and Tan Hiep communes; area of 16.43 km2, population of 88,632 people.
Ba Diem commune: Including Ba Diem, Xuan Thoi Thuong and Trung Chanh; area of 27.36 km2, population of 192,230 people.
Xuan Thoi Son commune: Including Tan Thoi Nhi, Xuan Thoi Son and Xuan Thoi Dong; area of 35.21 km2, population of 96,621 people.
Dong Thanh commune: Including Thoi Tam Thon, Dong Thanh and Nhi Binh; area 30.16 km2, population 187,758 people.
Can Gio district merges 7 communes and towns into 4 communes

Binh Khanh commune: Merged with Binh Khanh commune, Tam Thon Hiep and part of An Thoi Dong; area of about 158 km2, population of 31,400 people.
An Thoi Dong commune: Including the rest of An Thoi Dong and Ly Nhon commune; area of 257 km2, population of 18,400 people.
Can Gio commune: Including Long Hoa commune and Can Thanh town; area of about 157 km2, population of 22,000 people.
Thanh An island commune: Maintained with an area of 131 km2, population of 4,218 people.
