Hanoi Police advise people to avoid congestion on January 4
Hanoi - Hanoi City Police recommends that people proactively plan travel time and avoid peak hours to limit congestion when returning to the capital.
It is forecasted that today (January 4), people will return to the capital to study and work after the New Year holiday, causing increased traffic volume at gateways, beltways and main traffic axes.
On the occasion of the 2026 New Year, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers will have 4 days off, from January 1 to January 4, 2026. According to the forecast, on the last day of the holiday, the number of people and vehicles from localities returning to Hanoi will increase, posing a potential risk of congestion on key traffic routes.
To ensure traffic order and safety and limit congestion, the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police has mobilized 100% of officers and soldiers to deploy plans to ensure traffic order and safety throughout the area.
On January 3 and 4, 2026, the Traffic Police Department coordinated with the commune-level police and related units to concentrate forces to direct traffic and guide traffic at the gateways of the capital and key routes, ensuring smooth and safe traffic to serve people returning to the city after the holidays.
To make travel from localities to Hanoi safe and convenient, the representative of the Hanoi Traffic Police Department recommends that transportation businesses, drivers, vehicle owners and traffic participants strictly comply with the provisions of the law on order and traffic safety when traveling on national highways, expressways, inner-city routes and routes in and out of the capital.
For passengers using passenger vans and public passenger transport, it is necessary to proactively book tickets early, not take the bus along the road, avoid the risk of insecurity, being forced to pay fares, and carrying more people than the prescribed number.
Private vehicle operators are advised to proactively plan travel time, limiting entry during peak hours from 8:00 to 10:00 and from 14:00 to 16:00. Before departure, it is necessary to carefully check the technical status of the vehicle, proactively build a suitable route, and regularly update the traffic situation to choose a safe direction.
The Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police recommends that people strictly follow the instructions of the authorities, contributing to ensuring order, traffic safety and smooth traffic in the capital.
