Quang Trung Campaign brings a warm Tet to the people

NHÓM PHÓNG VIÊN (báo lao động) 08/01/2026 08:10 (GMT+7)

After the historic flood at the end of 2025, many localities in Dak Lak province were in ruins and mourning. Entering the early days of 2026, on the foundations of houses that were swept away by floods, hundreds of new, solid shelters have been built one by one.

From desolation to new, solid homes

In the spirit of the "Quang Trung Campaign" launched by the Prime Minister, the rapid participation of armed forces and authorities at all levels has brought material and spiritual support to people in disaster areas.

In early January 2026, the atmosphere in Hoa Thinh commune (Dak Lak province) became more bustling than usual. In My Dien and Phu Huu villages - which were once the "flood center" during the historic flood at the end of 2025 - the image of devastation and desolation has now gradually retreated into the past. On the land that was once only crushed bricks and mud, new houses with a fragrant paint smell have sprung up quickly and firmly.

The houses are designed to suit the harsh natural disaster conditions of the Central region: High floor, flood-proof sunroof, sturdy roof, solid structure, ensuring long-term safety for people. This is not only a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also a "shield" for the rainy and stormy seasons that may continue in the future.

Mr. Phuong Van Lanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Hoa Thinh commune - said that within the framework of the "Quang Trung Campaign", the whole commune has built 117 new houses for households whose houses collapsed due to floods. Up to now, the locality has handed over 31 units; it is expected that by January 10, it will continue to hand over 74 more units to the people, the rest will be completed immediately.

At the new house of Ms. Huynh Thi De (53 years old, My Dien village), soldiers of Regiment 143, Division 315, Military Region 5 are busy completing the final stages such as installing the door and rearranging furniture.

Seeing the spacious house gradually come into existence after many days of loss, Mrs. De emotionally shared: "After the flood, I saw the rubble in front of my eyes but could only sit and cry. Now that some soldiers have built a new house for me, I am very happy, I don't know how to say it."

Right next to it is the house of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh and her husband. Referring to the days when soldiers came to the village to help people build houses, Ms. Thanh could not hide her emotions: "The two of us worked from morning to night, very dedicated. Everyone loves us. Now that they are back to the unit, my husband and I will miss them very much".

Not only in Hoa Thinh, in Tuy An Dong commune, joy is also spreading when many new roofs are handed over, including the house of Mr. Ngo Chim (101 years old, Binh Thanh village).

In addition to building new houses, officers and soldiers of Regiment 292, Division 377, Air Defense - Air Force also supported Mr. Chim's family to build more corridors and yards, creating more favorable living conditions for the elderly.

Quang Trung Campaign - a love affair, ahead of schedule

After more than 1 month of implementing the "Quang Trung Campaign" in the old Phu Yen flood area, hundreds of new houses have been completed and promptly handed over to the people. In the first phase, on January 4, 2026, Military Region 5 and units under the Ministry of National Defense and People's Committees of relevant provinces and cities held the inauguration and handover of 155 newly built houses to the people.

In Dak Lak province alone, there are 96 houses donated in this period. The remaining houses will continue to be handed over in the second phase (January 10) and the third phase (January 15), 15 days ahead of schedule compared to the time frame required by the Prime Minister.

After the first handover, in the communes in the East of Dak Lak province, the construction atmosphere is still taking place urgently. On the eve of the Lunar New Year 2026, new, spacious houses have begun to be completed, opening up hope for a warmer, more fulfilling Tet for people in disaster areas.

Mr. Ta Anh Tuan - Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee - affirmed: "The entire political system of the province, especially the armed forces and local governments, is determined to complete the repair and construction of new houses for people in disaster areas before January 25, 2026, 5 days ahead of schedule. The houses must be safe and solid to protect people in the coming stormy seasons".

Recognizing and highly appreciating that effort, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee - respectfully thanked the sense of responsibility and affection of the army and armed forces. "New houses are not only a place to live, but also a spiritual support, adding confidence for people to overcome difficulties and rebuild their lives after natural disasters," Mr. Triet emphasized.

In the early days of the new year, when the Central region still left a mark of the historic flood, the new roofs rising from the rubble are vivid evidence of the spirit of " speedy - affectionate - for the people" of the "Quang Trung Campaign", in line with the direction of the Government, bringing hope for a more peaceful future for people in flooded areas.
