Quang Trung Campaign: No one has assigned it but the army still does it, doing their best

On January 16, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference to summarize the "Quang Trung Campaign" of rapid reconstruction and repair of houses for households whose houses were damaged by natural disasters, storms and floods in the Central region.

Speaking at the conference, General Phan Van Giang - Politburo member, Minister of National Defense - said that in overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, we have used all forces, many types of means.

"Maybe for the first time we have used UAVs and drones to overcome the consequences and bring relief goods to isolated areas," said General Phan Van Giang.

Sharing about the implementation of the Army's Campaign, General Phan Van Giang said that when receiving the Prime Minister's instructions, he requested it to be completed before January 12.

In addition to repairing according to targets and assigned tasks, for example, building more than 600 new houses and repairing nearly 400 houses, we also do many other things. All participating forces do other things, not just the work assigned by the Prime Minister. For example, no one assigns cleaning of roads, gardens, villages, and hamlets, but they still do it, doing their best," said General Phan Van Giang.

The Minister also said that many officers have also participated in building and repairing houses for people. Through this, General Phan Van Giang also pointed out specific lessons.

"After finishing the house, the Prime Minister discussed with me that we must have a TV to let people watch news TV, especially to watch the information of the 14th National Party Congress. We have also determined that in addition to TVs, there are also refrigerators, pots and pans, bowls and clothes for the people. Our army also built and sewed civil clothing to supply to localities. If we calculate the figures, it is nearly 1,000 tons of dry food provided during the recent flood to help the people. Thus, this is both an effort and an initiative, the initiative of leaders and commanders at all levels", said General Phan Van Giang.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Public Security Dang Hong Duc said that on December 10, the Ministry of Public Security held a summary of the Quang Trung campaign in Da Nang city, a commune most severely affected by Da Nang city.

Previously, after receiving instructions from the Party and State leaders and orders from the Minister of Public Security, the entire People's Public Security force in the affected areas deployed simultaneously, no comrades refused the task, no comrades called for hardship. All set off immediately after receiving orders from the Minister.

Regarding the direction in the coming time, the Deputy Minister suggested that the police forces of localities continue to support creating sustainable livelihoods for people, completing administrative procedures, documents, and red books on land for people after stabilizing their housing.

Continue to implement the direction of the General Secretary and the Prime Minister on assisting social security work, especially supporting the disadvantaged, people in difficult circumstances, people homeless; participating in the construction of schools and health stations in particularly difficult areas, remote areas, border areas and islands.
