Cao Bang adjusts the number of villages, increases the criteria for particularly difficult communes
Cao Bang - The Provincial People's Committee decided to adjust the number of 19 particularly disadvantaged villages and increase additional criteria in 6 communes.
On January 13, according to PV's research, the People's Committee of Cao Bang province issued Decision No. 17/QD-UBND to adjust the list of villages and communes in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, especially difficult villages, as well as communes in areas I, II, III in the province, for the period 2026-2030.
This is an important update after Decision No. 2230/QD-UBND dated December 25, 2025, to ensure the classification is close to reality, as a basis for development support policies in the coming time.
Accordingly, Cao Bang province adjusted the increase of 39 villages to the list of particularly disadvantaged in the communes of Bao Lam, Minh Khai, Phan Thanh, Co Ba, Nguyen Binh, Quang Uyen and Minh Tam.
On the contrary, 6 villages in Nguyen Hue, Trung Khanh, Hanh Phuc and Hoa An communes will be reduced. Along with that, the names of 30 villages in Trung Khanh, Phuc Hoa, Be Van Dan and Tra Linh communes were also adjusted to unify with the actual names.
Regarding the classification criteria, 6 communes have had their number of standard criteria adjusted, including Nguyen Hue, Hanh Phuc, Nguyen Binh, Doai Duong, Ly Quoc and Huy Giap.
Meanwhile, 31 other communes and wards, mainly in region III, have had their number of achieved criteria adjusted down, reflecting the remaining difficulties in infrastructure, services and living conditions.
After reviewing, the whole province currently has 1,102 extremely disadvantaged villages, of which area II has 2 villages and area III accounts for the majority with 1,100 villages. The number of villages and hamlets not included in this list is 360.
This result shows that most of the highland areas and ethnic minority areas of the province still face many challenges in terms of socio-economics, basic infrastructure and access to services.
This adjustment not only reflects the objective situation but is also an important basis for Cao Bang province to prioritize investment and support resources in the period of 20262030, from upgrading roads, electricity, clean water, schools, health stations, to developing production and sustainable poverty reduction.
The decision takes effect from the date of signing and has been assigned to relevant departments, branches and localities for implementation.
