The Minister of Industry and Trade is the Head of the Trade negotiation Team with the US
Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien was assigned to be the Head of the Government negotiation Team on trade issues with the US.
On April 12, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 753/QD-TTg on the establishment of a Government negotiation Team on trade issues with the US.
The Prime Minister decided to establish a Government negotiation Team on counter- trade agreements with the US (abbreviated as the negotiation Team).
The head of the delegation is Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.
The Deputy Head of the delegation is Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.
Members of the negotiation delegation include: Deputy Minister of Finance Cao Anh Tuan; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung; Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Pham Duc Long; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Do Hung Viet; Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Pham Quang Dung; Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Ba Hoan; Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is the standing agency of the negotiation Team. The negotiating delegation has a Working Group of civil servants at the Department level of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant ministries and agencies. The Minister of Industry and Trade, Head of the negotiation delegation, proposed to submit to the Prime Minister for promulgation the Working Regulations of the negotiation delegation and members of the Working Group.
The negotiating delegation is responsible for: Presiding over and coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to develop scenarios and negotiation options with the US on counterpart trade agreements, in the spirit of ensuring national and ethnic interests and harmonious benefits and shared risks.
Conduct negotiations with the US side to reach a suitable, balanced, stable, sustainable, effective counter- trade agreement, mutual respect and mutual benefit.
Report to the Prime Minister during the negotiation process and results; propose to competent authorities necessary measures and policies to implement the agreement after it is signed.
This Decision takes effect from April 12, 2025.
