Ministry of National Defense researches and manufactures self-propelled artillery and light tanks
On January 28, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee for Armored Vehicles to deploy tasks for 2026.
According to a report by the Military Science Department (Ministry of National Defense), in 2025, relevant agencies and units actively and proactively effectively deployed tasks of researching, designing, and manufacturing infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, self-propelled guns, and water-swimming light tanks.
Building, adjusting and perfecting the set of indicators, configurations, and combat-technical features of the product; Automation command and fire control software system. Thereby, serving as a basis for conducting research, design, manufacturing and testing of products in accordance with regulations.
Concluding the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam praised the relevant agencies and units for being proactive in advising, proposing plans, and implementing research, design, and manufacture of products of scientific and technological projects and topics.
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam emphasized that the products of scientific and technological projects and topics are identified as strategically significant technical weapons and equipment, designed not according to available designs, including many new and difficult research contents.
Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam requested agencies and units to proactively coordinate closely in building the configuration and combat-technical features of products to meet the combat requirements of artillery - missile and armored vehicles in the new situation.
At the same time, coordinate to organize testing and acceptance of products to ensure strictness, compliance with regulations and absolute safety;
Continue to propose ordering tasks for research, design, and manufacture of armored vehicles and self-propelled artillery suitable to equipment needs, send them to the Department of Military Science for appraisal, synthesis and report to the Head of the Ministry of National Defense for consideration and decision.
