Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang has a new task
HCMC - Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee Tran Luu Quang is the Head of the Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control, aiming to build a drug-free city.
The Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee has just issued a decision to establish a Steering Committee to implement Resolution 02 of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on improving the effectiveness of crime prevention and control and drug abuse, towards the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030 (referred to as Steering Committee 26).
The Steering Committee 26 includes one Head, one Permanent Deputy Head, 7 Deputy Heads and 19 members.
Ho Chi Minh City Party Secretary Tran Luu Quang was assigned to be the Head of the Steering Committee.
Lieutenant General Mai Hoang - Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department is the Standing Deputy Head.
7 Deputy Heads of the Committee include: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Le Quoc Phong; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Vo Van Minh; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc; Major General Ngo Thanh Binh - Director of the Department of Investigation Police on Drug Crimes (Ministry of Public Security); Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Van Tuan; Major General Vu Van Dien - Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command.
Steering Committee 26 is responsible for advising and proposing to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee to develop and promulgate leadership and direction documents to concretize and effectively organize the implementation of the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State on crime prevention and control and drug abuse.
According to Resolution 02 of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, the roadmap to build a drug-free city is clearly defined each year.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City strives to have 30% of commune-level areas and at least 30% of neighborhoods, hamlets, and residential areas in the remaining areas meet the criteria for drug-free areas; at the same time, 100% of educational, medical, mass organizations, agencies, and enterprises meet the criteria for drug-free areas.
In 2027, the city will continue to build an additional 20% of commune-level areas, increasing the total to 50% of commune-level areas meeting the drug-free criteria; at least 60% of neighborhoods, hamlets, and residential areas in the remaining areas will meet the standards. All educational and medical facilities, mass organizations, agencies and enterprises continue to maintain the drug-free criteria.
By the end of 2028, Ho Chi Minh City aims to have 80% of commune-level areas and 90% of neighborhoods, hamlets, and residential areas meet the drug-free criteria.
In 2029, the city will complete the goal of 100% of commune-level areas, 100% of neighborhoods, hamlets, and residential areas meeting the criteria of drug-free areas; all educational, medical, mass organizations, agencies, and enterprises will no longer have drugs.
In 2030, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to lead and synchronously deploy tasks and solutions to sustainably maintain a drug-free city, contributing to ensuring security, order, social safety and quality of life for people.
