Bac Kan passes a resolution to merge with Thai Nguyen
Bac Kan - On April 24, at the 27th Session, the Provincial People's Council passed resolutions on the policy of merging provinces and reorganizing commune-level administrative units.
At the meeting, delegates discussed and unanimously approved the Resolution on the policy of arranging and merging Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces; Resolution on the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units in the province.
Reporting at the meeting, the policy of arranging commune-level administrative units of Bac Kan had 97.49% of voters in agreement. 99.07% of voters agreed with the policy of arranging and merging Bac Kan and Thai Nguyen provinces.
Bac Kan will implement an arrangement from 108 to 37 commune-level administrative units (35 communes and 2 wards). Reduced 71 commune-level administrative units (reduced by 65.74%) compared to the present.
After the merger of the two provinces, the new name is Thai Nguyen, with an area of 8,375.21km2 and a population of 1,799,489 people, the political and administrative center is located in Thai Nguyen.
The Provincial People's Council requested all levels, sectors and localities to complete documents related to the arrangement of provincial and commune-level administrative units. Submit to competent authorities to ensure progress according to regulations.
Proactively deploy projects and plans to reorganize the apparatus and personnel work. Management and handling of assets must comply with regulations.
This session also passed a Resolution stipulating principles, scope, support norms and the use of funds to protect rice-growing land in the province.
