Lao Cai receives 1,420 units of blood after three days of launching

Lao Cai - After three days of organization, the 2026 Summer Voluntary Blood Donation Day attracted more than 1,980 registered participants, receiving 1,420 units of blood.

From July 30th to August 1st, the Lao Cai Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization in coordination with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital No. 2 and the Steering Committees for Voluntary Blood Donation Mobilization in localities organized the 2026 Summer Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

The program is implemented in Bat Xat commune, General Hospital No. 2 of Lao Cai province and Lao Cai ward with the themes "Red Drops in the Border", "Red Drops in White Blouse" and "Donating a drop of blood - Giving life".

The festival attracted more than 1,980 officials, civil servants, public employees, teachers, armed forces and people to register to participate in blood donation.

By the afternoon of August 1, the Organizing Committee had received 1,420 units of blood. In which, the festival in Bat Xat commune collected 363 units of blood; Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital No. 2 received 420 units and Lao Cai ward received 637 units.

Notably, within the framework of the program, 27 people registered to donate human tissues and organs, contributing to spreading the humanistic message about donating tissues and organs to save people.

The entire amount of blood received was transported, screened, preserved and processed into blood products by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to serve emergency and treatment work at medical facilities in Lao Cai province.

Part of the blood source is also coordinated to central-level hospitals when necessary.
