Grassroots union awards 228 million VND in support to female workers with serious illnesses
HCMC - At noon on July 31, the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. came to the motel (Thoi Hoa ward) to present support to union members facing difficulties due to serious illnesses.
The case of support is Ms. V.T.B.L (born in 1991, from Can Tho city). Ms. L is an employee of the manufacturing department, Line 6-G, Sub 8 operations of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., factory in My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park (Ben Cat Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
The Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. said that the female union member has been working at the factory in My Phuoc 1 Industrial Park since 2014. In March 2025, she had metastatic breast cancer in her right armpit, accompanied by a secondal buclean tumor in her bones and bone marrow.
Since suffering from a serious illness, Ms. L had to take a day off work for treatment. Ms. L's husband also had to quit his job to take care of his wife. The increasing cost of treatment has caused many difficulties for the family.
Knowing the situation of union members in the company, the Executive Board of the Trade Union called on all companies to join hands to help and support Ms. L to have more funds for treatment.
"After only 1 week of calling, 4 factories of the company with about 11,000 union members, workers and kind-hearted people joined hands to donate 228,532,000 VND. Today, the Trade Union and the company's leaders came directly to give to Ms. L. Hopefully this amount of money will help Ms. L have more funds to cover her treatment. These feelings, I hope, will give Ms. L more motivation to overcome difficulties" - Mr. Le Tan Nghia - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd. said.
Receiving the support money from the Trade Union, Ms. L was moved to tears. "Since I got sick, I have had to take a long leave to treat my illness. The Institute fee has been over 150 million VND. The treatment process is still very long ahead, causing the family to fall into a difficult situation and have to borrow money everywhere. Having this support, I have more motivation to continue treatment, overcome my illness, and return to work. I would like to thank the company, the Trade Union and all my colleagues for their support" - Ms. L emotionally shared.
Trade unions arouse solidarity and sharing
According to records, at Yazaki EDS Vietnam Co., Ltd., whenever union members and workers are facing difficulties, the grassroots union is always there to find support solutions. The Executive Committee of the Trade Union has called for support for many cases in difficult circumstances. On average, each case is supported with over 200 million VND. Union members and workers have promoted solidarity and supported difficult cases. On the occasion of the 2024 storm, union members also donated 400 million to support people in flooded areas.
