Thanh Hoa launches Workers' Month and Month of action on occupational safety and hygiene
Thanh Hoa - On April 23, the Provincial Federation of Labor held a launching ceremony for Workers' Month in response to the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene in 2025.
Affirming the role of workers
The launching ceremony took place in a vibrant competitive atmosphere as the whole country was looking forward to many important historical milestones: 50 years of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 135 years of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday; 139 years of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025) and 96 years of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025).

The ceremony was attended by Ms. Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor; representatives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Thanh Hoa province; and a large number of union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers (CNVCLD) in the province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Vo Manh Son - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Labor Federation of Thanh Hoa Province - affirmed: With more than 370 thousand employees, of which over 260 thousand workers work in enterprises, the labor force of Thanh Hoa province has contributed more than 70% GRDP of the whole province. The working class is growing stronger, not only is the economic pillar but also a pioneer in digital transformation, green economic development, innovation and international integration.
However, the lives of a part of workers are still difficult; violations of labor laws and unsafety in production still occur, especially in industries with high potential risks such as mineral exploitation, construction, mechanics, agriculture, etc.
Responding to Workers' Month 2025 with the theme "Vietnamese Workers: Pioneering in entering a new era", trade unions at all levels in the province have implemented many practical activities: Organizing the "Creative Workers" program; honoring 50 outstanding initiatives; organizing forums and dialogues in economic zones and industrial parks; promoting labor safety; health check-ups, giving gifts to workers; implementing the Peak Month to develop union members, establish grassroots unions...
From the beginning of 2025 to now, the Provincial Federation of Labor has supported 14.347 billion VND for union members and workers in difficult circumstances; built new and repaired 100 "Union Shelters" worth nearly 4 billion VND; coordinated and mobilized the giving of over 200,000 gifts worth more than 30 billion VND on the occasion of Lunar New Year, April 30 - May holiday and Workers' Month.
Continuing innovation for workers
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Lai The Nguyen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee - praised the efforts of trade unions at all levels, the business community and the workforce in effectively implementing Workers' Month, contributing to spreading the patriotic emulation movement and building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations.
The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee emphasized: Trade unions at all levels need to focus on implementing 5 key tasks: Continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the Party's guidelines, the State's laws and policies and the province's instructions on building a modern and strong working class in the period of industrialization and modernization of the country.
Specifically "Workers' Month" and " Month of action on occupational safety and hygiene" with activities suitable for each locality and enterprise. Strengthen communication, inspection and examination to improve working conditions and prevent work-related accidents, especially in high-risk areas.
Promote the development of union members and establish grassroots unions in non-state enterprises. Pay close attention to salary policies, social insurance, health insurance, living conditions and working environment for workers. Workers need to proactively improve their skills, skills, sense of responsibility and sense of labor discipline, and be ready to adapt to the 4.0 industrial revolution and changes in the job market.
Trade unions need to continue to innovate their methods of operation, promote their role as representatives, negotiators, protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers; and act as an effective bridge between the Party, the State, businesses and workers.
At the launching ceremony, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Thai Thu Xuong and leaders of Thanh Hoa province presented 34 "Union Shelters" to workers in difficult circumstances and 45 gifts to workers with outstanding achievements in labor production.
Speaking with Lao Dong, Mr. Vo Manh Son - Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor - emphasized: "Workers' Month is not only an occasion to honor and show gratitude to workers but also an opportunity for trade unions to look back, innovate methods of operation, and improve the effectiveness of caring for practical benefits for union members and workers.
The Thanh Hoa Provincial Federation of Labor affirms to continue to persistently innovate and create, making the trade union a truly reliable support, a representative voice of workers - joining hands to build Thanh Hoa to develop quickly and sustainably, worthy of being a model province as Uncle Ho always wished".
