Female worker: In my dreams, I didn't dare to think my house would be renovated
Ho Chi Minh City - On August 25, Working Group No. 8 of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation organized a ceremony to hand over "Trade Union Shelter" to workers in difficult circumstances in Chanh Hiep ward.
The female union member supported with "Trade Union Shelter" is Ms. Mai Ngoc Diep (born in 1984, Trade Union of Biwase E.T. S Company under the grassroots trade union of CP Company - Binh Duong Water - Environment Corporation).
It is known that Ms. Diep and her child lived in a small house built in 2004, which has recently deteriorated. The house has many cracks, the floor is subsided, the corrugated iron roof is low, there is no ceiling, so it is hot and humid. Ms. Diep is a single mother, raising young children, and has difficult economic circumstances.
Every day, the two mothers and daughters wake up at 1 am. I take my child to a relative's house to send, then go to clean up garbage in the Bung market area, Thuan An ward. Each month working, I have an income of 6-8 million VND. I have to be frugal to cover expenses. However, because my young child is often sick, it is always short of money. The house has been damaged, but the two mothers and daughters do not have money to repair it" - Ms. Diep shared.

Faced with that situation, the Trade Union of Biwase E.T. S Company's department coordinated with the People's Committee and the Executive Board of Tuong Binh Hiep 5 Quarter to survey and propose support. The house was renovated from mid-July 2026 with a total cost of 45 million VND, of which 30 million VND was sponsored by the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation. After 10 days of construction, items including: paving the walls, redoing the electrical system, laying floor tiles, installing ceilings and repainting the entire house have been completed.
At the house handover ceremony, leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation mobilized more philanthropists to receive 7.5 million VND and many gifts to give to Ms. Diep.
Even in my dreams, I didn't dare to think that my house would be supported to be repaired as new. My mother and I are very grateful to the Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union, the company's grassroots trade union and agencies. From now on, my mother and I have a stable place to live to try to rise up in life" - Ms. Diep emotionally said at the house receiving ceremony.
