Delegation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and Ministry of Industry and Trade offers incense to comrade Nguyen Duc Canh

On the occasion of Workers' Month 2026, towards the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2026), 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, on the morning of April 17, Comrade Huynh Thanh Xuan - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour; Mr. Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan - Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and the delegation of the Vietnam Trade Union of Industry and Trade offered incense at the Nguyen Duc Canh Memorial House in An Hai ward, Hai Phong city.

In front of the spirit of comrade Nguyen Duc Canh, the delegation offered incense, expressing sincerity, one of the outstanding leaders of our Party, former Chairman of the Bac Ky Red General Confederation of Labour (the predecessor organization of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour). The delegation of the Vietnam Industry and Trade Union promised to continue to promote the glorious tradition of the working class, the Trade Union organization; constantly innovate the content and methods of operation, care for and protect the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers, contributing to building a sustainable Industry and Trade sector, making positive contributions to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.

Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh (1908 - 1932) was born into a poor Confucian family, with a rich tradition of patriotism and studiousness in Diem Dien village, Ho Doi canton, Thuy Anh district (now Thai Thuy commune, Hung Yen province).

Being enlightened about the revolution very early, sympathizing with the suffering of workers and realizing the great strength of the working class if unified, he directly participated, mobilized, and organized into a revolutionary struggle movement of the working class.

On July 28, 1929, comrade Nguyen Duc Canh founded the Red General Confederation of Tonkin (the predecessor of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor) today. The birth of the Red General Confederation of Tonkin is particularly meaningful for the Vietnamese workers' movement and trade union organization activities.

In February 1930, he attended the Conference to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam and was assigned to hold important positions: Secretary of the Hai Phong Party Committee, Secretary of the Bac Ky Regional Party Committee, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Ky Regional Party Committee.

In charge of propaganda and training work at the Standing Committee of the Central Coast Regional Party Committee, Comrade Nguyen Duc Canh played an important role, together with the Central Coast Regional Party Committee building a system of Party newspapers from the region to the province and grassroots levels.

In April 1931, the comrade was arrested by the French colonialists in Vinh. Despite being tortured in many forms, the comrade resolutely refused to confess. On July 31, 1932, the comrade was executed by the French colonialists at the Hai Phong cemetery - a place later built as a memorial to the comrade.
