Strong transformation of Lao Dong Newspaper in 2025
2025 is a challenging but also full of achievements for Lao Dong Newspaper. After many major fluctuations in the socio-economic context, the Newspaper still maintained its high position.
In 2025, one of the important changes of Lao Dong Newspaper is to become a public service unit under the Vietnam Fatherland Front under Decision 21a/QD-MTTW-BTT, under the simultaneous leadership and direction of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, regularly and directly under the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL); under state management of press and publications of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. This has created a new mechanism, expanding the scope of activities and higher requirements for the quality of information and propaganda, while bringing many opportunities and challenges to the Newspaper in innovation and development.
Achievements in 2025
One of the outstanding achievements of Lao Dong Newspaper in 2025 is the impressive increase in the number of newsletters. The newspaper continues to focus on articles about trade unions, workers and laborers, accounting for a large proportion of the total number of articles. This is a clear demonstration of the newspaper's concern and vivid reflection on political, economic, social activities and especially issues related to workers.
In particular, since June 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper has opened the "Ford" column, actively contributing to the propaganda of patriotic emulation movements and action programs of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. This item has attracted special attention from a large number of readers, affirming the position of the Newspaper in carrying out the Front's propaganda work.
In addition, Lao Dong Newspaper is always a pioneer in protecting the rights of workers. In the past year, the newspaper has published tens of thousands of articles about unions, workers and laborers. Of which, 19 successful series of articles have successfully protected the rights of hundreds of workers, teachers and laborers across the provinces and cities, bringing billions of VND in value.
A milestone in 2025 is that Lao Dong Newspaper has won a total of 50 prizes, including 27 domestic press prizes (including 3 national press prizes, 1 prize in journalism on anti-corruption, and prizes from ministries and branches); 23 international press photo prizes. These achievements not only reflect the efforts in professional work but also demonstrate the continuous dedication of the reporter and editor team of the Newspaper.
2025 also witnessed the strong development of Lao Dong Newspaper on digital platforms. In November 2025, the survey team on digital transformation activities of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism surveyed Lao Dong Newspaper, highly appreciating the maturity in digital transformation of the Newspaper. In 2025, Lao Dong Newspaper continued to be ranked as excellent, ranking second in digital transformation among central press agencies. This is the third consecutive year that Lao Dong newspaper has been on the leading list of digital transformation.
In March 2025, the Newspaper officially received a new task assigned by the General Confederation: upgrading and operating the Vietnam Trade Union Electronic Information Portal. By June 2025, the Newspaper had completed Beta with 6 languages (Vietnamese, English, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, French), automatic English translations with artificial intelligence; established a Chatbot tool for automatic legal consultation; built a new interface for the Portal, added information groups on the direction and operation of the Presidium Standing Committee, built a digital data warehouse of guiding and directing documents of the General Confederation...
This is the affirmation of Lao Dong Newspaper in the digital transformation and development of multi-platform communication. The Newspaper's social networking channels also had strong growth.
In addition to outstanding achievements, Lao Dong Newspaper also faced many difficulties in 2025. One of the biggest difficulties is the sharp decline in print newspapers due to merging and streamlining the apparatus in the Trade Union system. In addition, Lao Dong Newspaper also faces increasingly fierce competition for information from digital platforms and social networks. Digital transformation requires large financial resources.
Gold's slow progress
Despite many difficulties, Lao Dong Newspaper has set clear directions and tasks for 2026. First of all, the court will continue to maintain and promote the achievements in protecting the rights of workers, while continuing to expand new sections to improve the quality of propaganda.
Regarding content, from the beginning of 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper focuses on building in-depth articles; increasing multimedia products to serve the propaganda of the 14th National Party Congress, the Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Congress of Vietnam Trade Unions, the election of the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels; continuing to widely implement Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo on innovating the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation.
Continue to promote digital transformation, apply artificial intelligence (AI), optimize work and improve content production efficiency.
The newspaper will continue to complete newly assigned tasks, including operating the Vietnam Trade Union Electronic Information Portal and developing digital services, improving the effectiveness of social work and community support activities.
Speaking at the 2026 Conference of Officials and Workers of Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hung - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor acknowledged and praised the outstanding results that the Newspaper has achieved in 2025. At the same time, Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung also suggested that Lao Dong Newspaper focus on a number of key orientations, including maintaining the political and social identity of Lao Dong Newspaper: correct, accurate and timely information; increasing orientation, fighting spirit, and humanity; continuing to firmly hold the leading position in protecting the legitimate and legal rights of workers.
In addition, digital transformation must go hand in hand with content transformation and organization transformation. Technology and artificial intelligence are important tools, but the ultimate goal is to create high-quality press products that are valuable in leading public opinion, useful for workers and trade union organizations; at the same time, special attention should be paid to information safety and security.
Lao Dong Newspaper needs to continue to perform well the tasks assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, while proactively proposing new ways to increase the effectiveness of propaganda and increase the influence of the Trade Union organization in the digital environment - Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Xuan Hung emphasized.
The direction and tasks for 2026 are set with many important goals, in order to continue affirming the role of Lao Dong Newspaper in protecting workers' rights and contributing to the cause of national construction.
