TKV Trade Union Shelter helps 477 families settle down
The activities to care for the interests and welfare of union members have been innovated and practiced by the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Trade Union, in which, the activities to care for the settlement and workplace of union members and workers (DV, NLD) have achieved high efficiency.
Increase the support level to 90 million VND/house
On January 7, Mr. Le Thanh Xuan - Member of the Presidium of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Chairman of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) said that in 2023, TKV Trade Union participated in amending the Regulations on the TKV Trade Union Social Fund - Trade Union Shelter (MACD). Accordingly, the support level for building MACD houses is increased from 60 million VND to 80 million VND/house. Then, in 2025, TKV Trade Union agreed with the General Director of the Group to increase the house construction support level from 80 million VND to 90 million VND.
In the period of 2023-2025, TKV Trade Union has supported units and employees to repair 477 MACD houses with an amount of 31.2 billion VND. Some units are interested in providing additional support to employees from the unit's funding sources such as Mong Duong Coal Company supporting 60 million VND/house; Cua Ong Coal Selection Company supporting 50 million VND/house; Mao Khe Coal Company, Silver Stone Logistics Company supporting 30 million VND/house...
Every year, TKV Trade Union also allocates the Group's welfare fund to support the construction and repair of houses for families of workers with serious labor difficulties and families of workers with reduced working capacity. In 3 years, 48 policy families have been supported with an amount of 5.15 billion VND.
The leader of TKV Trade Union added that currently in the whole Group, there are 22 units with collective housing areas for employees, with a total of 4,814 rooms, including 3,636 rooms for single households and 1,133 rooms for households.
In 3 years, units in the industry have organized 427 activities to build "Clean, Beautiful - Civilized" workers' housing areas, organized and implemented "Green Saturday". Along with that, the units have invested in repairing and purchasing equipment for workers' collective housing areas with a total amount of 67.7 billion VND, from the trade union fund of 4.2 billion VND.
Helping disadvantaged workers stabilize their lives
Mr. Trinh Van An - Chairman of the Trade Union of Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company (Quang Ninh) - said that implementing the Decision of the TKV Trade Union on housing support from the MACD Fund in 2025, by the end of 2025, 5 families of workers were supported to build new houses, each family was supported with 90 million VND from the TKV MACD Fund, 20 million VND from the Company Fund and 5 million VND from the TKV Fund. Company union; The remaining 1 family received financial support from the Company Fund and the Company's Trade Union Fund, promptly helping employees overcome housing difficulties.
According to Mr. An, the supported workers' families are all in especially difficult circumstances. For example, the family of Mr. Le Duy Lien, a worker at K5 workshop, has had to live in a low-rise level 4 house for many years, often flooded during heavy rains. Mr. Lien is the main breadwinner, his wife has no stable job, and raises 5 young children, including one with congenital cerebral extension, life is always in a state of deprivation; Ms. Vu Thi Thuy, a worker at the Life workshop - has not had her own roof for many years, and has had to rent a room. Ms. Thuy alone raises 2 young children, low income, and life is still precarious, but she still persists in sticking to her job and strives to rise up; the family of Mr. Nguyen Van Du, a worker at VTG1 Factory, lives in a seriously degraded house. After the divorce, Mr. Duy raised two children in grade 8 and grade 10 alone.
