Supporting workers after natural disasters

The recent historic flood has severely affected the lives of thousands of union members and workers in Hue City. According to statistics from the Hue City Labor Federation, the whole city has 5,711 union members and workers who suffered losses, of which 772 people had to temporarily quit their jobs, 5 cases had accidents and 1 death. The total estimated value of property damage is more than 18.9 billion VND.

Faced with this situation, the Hue City Labor Federation has organized many working groups to visit and encourage families of deceased people or children of union members who were severely affected by floods.

Together with the Trade Union organization, many enterprises in the area also quickly joined hands and implemented practical support for workers. Scavi Hue Company supports 2,604 workers with a total cost of 1.3 billion VND; CP Cold Joint Stock Company, Hue Branch supports 965 people, each worth 1 million VND in necessities; Son Ha Hue Company supports 460 workers with a total cost of 115 million VND.

In particular, MSV Company impressed with its humane policy of paying 100% of basic salary for 4 days off due to floods, helping employees quickly stabilize their lives after natural disasters. In addition, the Trade Union of Scavi Hue Company and the Trade Union of Son Ha Hue Company also allocated funds to support union members with a total amount of about 515 million VND.

This timely cooperation is an important fulcrum to help workers become more steadfast in difficult times.

Supporting workers and armed forces at the front line

Not only workers in the enterprise, but also frontline forces in Hue City are trying day and night to overcome the consequences of floods. On many streets, officers, soldiers of the Police, Army and environmental workers are tirelessly cleaning up mud and garbage, helping the city return to normal life soon.

In order to share the difficulties, the leaders of the Hue City Labor Federation directly visited, encouraged and provided support to the forces on duty at the scene. At the destinations, the Hue City Labor Federation acknowledged the sense of responsibility and efforts to not fear danger and harsh weather of officers, soldiers and urban sanitation workers.

On this occasion, the Hue City Labor Federation presented 20 million VND in support to the Hue City Police force, 20 million VND to workers of Hue Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, and 20 million VND to officers and soldiers of Regiment 6 (Hue City Military Command).

The support packages have great spiritual significance, demonstrating the respect and sharing of the Trade Union organization with the forces working in extremely difficult conditions.

The activities of caring for workers and frontline forces after the flood of the Hue City Labor Federation once again show the core role of the Trade Union organization in accompanying workers and the community. In the most difficult time, that timely sharing becomes a spiritual support for thousands of workers and functional forces to be more confident, together bringing Hue back to a peaceful life.
