Enterprises and Trade Unions take care of workers together

To have their most valuable assets - the workforce - grow stronger, first of all, businesses must fulfill their responsibility in fully implementing legal regulations, especially regulations on labor and trade unions. At Enkei Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Thang Long Industrial Park, Hanoi), the 2025 Workers' Conference took place in a democratic and open spirit.

At the conference, Mr. Sugiyama - General Director of the company reported comprehensively on the production and business situation in 2024, implementation results in the first and second quarters of 2025 and the direction for the last months of the year. Despite many difficulties due to market fluctuations, the company still prioritizes maintaining stable jobs and income for workers, while continuing to expand production and invest in building new factories to improve competitiveness.

One of the contents that workers are interested in is the demolition of the car parking area to serve the construction of a new factory. The management board said that in the immediate future, workers will temporarily park their vehicles in GA's garden. After the project is completed, the company will arrange a more stable and convenient parking area. This is a flexible approach to solve immediate needs while still ensuring production expansion progress. The need to exercise and improve spiritual life is also proposed by many workers.

The idea of building gyms and sports playgrounds such as pickleball and tennis has received high consensus. The General Director of the Company shared that since July 2025, the company has started construction of a factory in the current soccer field area, so it is temporarily unable to maintain the playground. However, the company's leaders will consider the option of building a gym after the factory is completed, depending on the production and business situation.

This shows that businesses not only focus on business results but also care about the legitimate needs of workers. In particular, many recommendations focus on improving working conditions in specific positions. Workers working in the drying kilns reflected on the hot maintenance environment, requesting air conditioners. The Board of Directors noted that it will conduct a field survey and first try buying some cooling shirts for workers to use. If the effectiveness is assessed, the company will expand equipment. This is an experimental solution but shows openness and concern for workers' health...

One of the activities that businesses focus on is vocational training for workers. At Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company, following the success of the 2023 - 2028 fiber - Textile Technology Training Program, within the framework of the strategy of developing high-quality human resources, especially young technical engineers with the ability to flexibly respond to the market, meeting the company's requirements for innovation and sustainable development, Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company in coordination with Hanoi University of Industry and Trade and Hue Industrial College organized a University class for 40 students who are managers and key technology - technical staff of the Textile - Garment industry.

Participating in the training program, students have the opportunity to improve their capacity and career development opportunities. The training program takes place over 5 years and the company pays the entire training cost.

In many places, businesses create all conditions and join hands with trade unions to take care of workers. At Stanley Vietnam Electricity Company Limited, the effectiveness of that coordination is the construction of a Workers' Cultural Activity Point to improve the cultural and spiritual life of workers. Every year, the company invests in additional facilities for the Cultural Activity Point.

Up to now, the company has an Outdoor Sports Complex including 2 tennis courts, 3 pickleball courts, 1 soccer court, fishing lake, and outdoor landscape garden. The indoor sports cluster includes: Computer room, library room, Yoga room, Zumba, Bida room and Golf practice room equipped with many types of modern exercise machines... with a total investment of more than 40 billion VND.

reality also shows the role of the Trade Union organization in building and promoting businesses to fulfill their responsibilities towards employees. For example, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union, since 2019, the Vietnam Textile and Garment Trade Union has conducted a selection and honoring of "Enterprises for Workers" at the industry level. This is a program specifically developed for employers to promote and enhance the role and responsibility of enterprises. The program is maintained annually based on the following criteria: Effective production and business enterprises, compliance with legal regulations, job security, income increase, care for the material and spiritual life of workers, ensure occupational safety and hygiene, build harmonious, stable and progressive relationships, specific criteria such as having a regime reserved for female workers, a synchronous grassroots institutional system, and good implementation of social responsibility with workers and the community.

As a result, from 2019 to 2024, 81 enterprises were honored and rewarded for "Enterprises for Workers" at the industry level. Of which, 29 enterprises have achieved the title of "National-level Enterprise for Workers". This is the motivation for employers to maintain and apply policies and regimes higher than the law and bring more benefits to employees.
