Trade union accompanies workers when industrial park is relocated
To serve the billion-dollar railway project, the entire Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park in Lao Cai will have to be relocated. Faced with major disruptions in jobs and lives, trade union levels have intervened, grasped the thoughts, removed obstacles, and accompanied businesses and workers.
Listen to timely removal
In mid-January 2026, according to Lao Dong's records, the working atmosphere at Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park was extremely bustling and exciting. However, the fact that the Industrial Park is about to be relocated has caused no small worries for workers.
Therefore, grassroots trade unions have proactively grasped the situation, promptly listened to opinions from workers, and at the same time coordinated with businesses to find solutions to stabilize jobs, income and psychology for workers.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - a worker at Traphaco Sapa Co., Ltd. - shared that the biggest worry is that if the factory moves far away, travel time increases, living expenses increase, directly affecting income.
We hope that businesses and trade unions will have specific support plans so that workers can feel secure in their work" - Ms. Huong said.
Faced with those concerns, the trade union organized direct meetings, fully recorded the workers' recommendations, and coordinated with the company's leadership to clearly inform the relocation roadmap and job arrangement plans.
Mr. Do Tien Sy - Director of Traphaco Sapa Co., Ltd. - said that despite moving production locations, the company still commits to maintaining stable jobs, not cutting labor, and at the same time researching appropriate support policies.
Maintain production momentum, stabilize jobs
Mr. Trinh Nguyen Phuong - Director of Babeeni Vietnam Co., Ltd. Lao Cai Branch - said that as soon as there was a policy to relocate the industrial park, the enterprise coordinated with the grassroots trade union to review the labor force and assess specific impacts to develop appropriate plans.
We want to retain workers, stabilize production, and at the same time receive the companionship of the Trade Union organization in this process" - the representative said.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Hoang Tuan Hai - Deputy Head of the Trade Union of Industrial Parks and Economic Zones of Lao Cai province - said that the relocation of Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park is a big issue, directly affecting more than 500 union members and workers. Therefore, the board has proactively coordinated with the leaders of the Provincial Labor Federation to work, grasp the situation of each enterprise and each group of workers to promptly advise on solutions.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem - Chairwoman of the Lao Cai Provincial Labor Federation - emphasized that the trade union will continue to closely monitor the project implementation process, accompany businesses in rearranging production, and support workers to stabilize jobs and lives.
The highest goal is that even if the industrial park moves, the jobs and income of workers must be maintained" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Nhiem affirmed.
The Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line was approved by the National Assembly for investment policy in Resolution 187, with a total length of about 391km of main line and 28km of branch line, passing through six provinces and cities.
The route is designed with a gauge of 1,435mm, maximum speed of 160km/h on the main axis, 120km/h in Hanoi area and 80km/h in the remaining sections.
The preliminary total investment is more than 203,000 billion VND (equivalent to 8.37 billion USD), implemented in 2 phases, of which phase 1 invests in single roads and site clearance according to the scale of double roads.
