Vietnam - Cambodia connects another bridge of friendship
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the Vietnam - Cambodia border is a bridge for exchange, friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples.
VNA reported that on the morning of December 8, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet co-chaired the opening ceremony of the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh province) - Meun Chey (prey Veng province, Cambodia) international border gate pair.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Cambodian Prime Minister both emphasized that this is an important event, clearly demonstrating the spirit of trust, solidarity, close and effective cooperation, opening a new door to trade and connecting another bridge of friendship between the two peoples.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that, on the basis of the good friendship between the two countries, over the years, international border gates along the Vietnam - Cambodia border have played an important role in connecting the two economies; creating favorable conditions for goods to circulate, businesses to trade, expand cooperation, and people of the two countries to visit relatives, work and study.
The Vietnam - Cambodia border is not only a route to determine territory but also a bridge for exchange, friendship, and cooperation, of the spirit of close neighborliness and the deep and strong bond between the two countries and peoples.
In the coming time, to put the Tan Nam - Meun Chey border gate into smooth and effective operation, the Prime Minister requested relevant ministries, branches, agencies and localities of the two countries to continue to closely coordinate, focusing on "5 enhancements".
First is to strengthen closer coordination in border management, ensuring security and order, resolutely fighting against cross-border crimes; promoting models of friendly exchange and solidarity between border protection forces of the two countries.
Second is to strengthen the simplification of procedures, digitize customs clearance, build smart border gates to minimize time and costs for businesses and people.
Third is to strengthen the connection of infrastructure and border economic space, soon complete the planning for the development of transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and power infrastructure connecting border gates.
Fourth is to strengthen regional linkages and local cooperation, especially between Tay Ninh and Prey Veng provinces in developing socio-economic development plans associated with border gate potential.
Fifth is to strengthen the role of enterprises and industry associations of the two countries in proactively seeking cooperation opportunities and expanding investment.
The Prime Minister said that the inauguration of the Tan Nam - Meun Chey international border gate will create a strong driving force for the two countries to soon complete the demarcation and marking of 16% of border sections that have not yet completed the demarcation and marking; at the same time, continue to research and develop other international border gates on the Vietnam - Cambodia land border, aiming to soon bring bilateral trade turnover to 20 billion USD.
The Prime Minister expressed his belief that the Tan Nam - Meun Chey border gate will become a model of a leading international border gate in digital transformation, intelligence, civilization, modernity, contributing to making the Vietnam - Cambodia border area truly a "security belt - a bridge of friendship - growth driver - a fulcrum of the people's hearts" of the two countries.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also said that the official operation of this international border gate is a clear demonstration of goodwill, unity in working methods and determination to cooperate between Cambodia and Vietnam, joining hands to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative, developing border, a border of trade, goods and services exchange, a border of development, serving the lives of the people.
This is also another historic achievement in the development of relations and cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in various fields.
