Prime Minister requests the Red River Delta to solve the problem of housing and pollution
The Prime Minister requested the Red River Delta to solve the housing problem by increasing supply, developing social housing and handling pollution.
On September 20, at the Government headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Chairman of the Red River Delta Coordination Council, chaired the 6th conference of the council.
In his opening speech, the Prime Minister stated that the Red River Delta plays a very important role; after the merger, the region consisting of 6 localities, Hanoi, Hai Phong, the provinces of Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, are all economic locomotives, the growth spearhead of the region and the country.
The GRDP growth rate of the whole region in the first 6 months of the year reached 9.32%, leading the socio-economic regions in the country; of which, 4/6 localities achieved a growth rate of 2 digits or more, Hai Phong ranked 2nd in the country with 11.2%, Quang Ninh ranked 3rd in the country with 11.03%, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh reached 10.47% and 10.82%, respectively.
According to the Prime Minister, this continues to be an advantage for localities to join hands to promote the potential and strengths of the Red River Delta as a pioneer in implementing the country's strategic tasks, leading the country to stronger development.
However, we still have a lot of work to do; besides opportunities and advantages, the Red River Delta also faces great challenges.
The Prime Minister emphasized that it is necessary to continue to innovate thinking and actions more drastically, look far and wide, think deeply to do great things, dare to think, dare to do, be proactive, creative, "locality does, locality decides, locality takes responsibility" with the spirit of indifference, purity, all for the common good.
Proactively adapt flexibly, promptly, effectively, adapt to the situation; promote "time, location, humanity", effectively exploit the different potentials, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of the region and localities.
In particular, the Prime Minister raised the issue of continuing to exploit and effectively use resources, including human resources, natural resources, including land, and rich cultural and historical traditions.
These include Hanoi, the thousand-year-old cultural capital, the capital of conscience and human dignity, the city for peace, many world heritages such as Ha Long Bay, Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son Relic Complex, Kiep Bac Scenic Landscape Complex...
The Prime Minister suggested that delegates focus on discussing key contents: What needs to be done to promote growth drivers of localities and regions, in order to achieve the double-digit growth target, rapid but sustainable growth.
At the same time, propose fundamental solutions to resolve bottlenecks, limitations, difficulties and challenges; operate local governments at two levels synchronously, unifiedly and smoothly; solutions to strengthen regional linkages, national linkages, and international linkages.
Solutions to speed up the progress of key infrastructure projects, solve housing problems through increasing supply, developing social housing; ensure progress, fairness and social security, solve problems related to air pollution, wastewater, waste, etc.
The Prime Minister emphasized that we are determined to make the Red River Delta one of the most important driving forces of the country, together with the Southeast region, to create motivation and inspire other regions, contributing to promoting rapid and sustainable growth of the country.
