Prime Minister requests Russia to soon complete negotiations on Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant

VNA reported that on January 5, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Chairman of AFK system Group, Russian Federation, Mr. Vladimir Petrovich Evtushenkov, who is visiting and working in Vietnam.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to develop the traditional friendship with the Russian Federation; highly appreciated the rapid development of AFK system Group and has worked with large Vietnamese corporations and enterprises to promote relations and cooperation in areas such as the orientation mentioned by General Secretary To Lam during his visit to Russia in May 2025, practically contributing to deepening the Vietnam - Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, becoming more substantial and effective.

Proposing the group to cooperate more closely and effectively with Vietnamese enterprises to realize agreements of senior leaders, the Prime Minister emphasized a number of areas of cooperation that Russia can be strong in and Vietnam has great demand for, such as building and connecting databases, information technology, digital transformation, cyber security, banking, pharmaceuticals, nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, telecommunications, developing the cryptocurrency market in Vietnam, and promoting projects to exploit underground space and outer space, including the development of underground metro in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and tourism cooperation.

Informing about Vietnam's development orientations, especially in priority areas of Vietnam where Russia has strengths, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam is preparing to implement a national one-stop investment mechanism to support the group in implementing cooperation activities, promoting trade and investment in Vietnam; suggesting that the group and member companies increase sharing of information and experience in governance; supporting human resource training, technology transfer... for the Vietnamese side.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister requested the Russian Embassy in Vietnam to support and closely coordinate with relevant ministries, branches and agencies of the two countries to urgently complete negotiations on the Intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the construction of Ninh Thuan 1 Nuclear Power Plant before January 15.

Mr. Vladimir Petrovich Evtushenkov said that AfK system is the largest private corporation in the Russian Federation with about 300,000 employees.

Appreciating the potential and pledging to strive to promote cooperation with the Vietnamese side in the areas that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed, Mr. Vladimir Petrovich Evtushenkov affirmed that Vietnam is always a trusted partner of Russian enterprises; AFK system wishes to increase the localization rate, be ready to transfer technology, and train personnel systematically for the Vietnamese side as the Prime Minister has commented.
