Prime Minister leaves for start of working trip to Europe

In the early morning of June 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife left Hanoi to start a working trip to Estonia, France and Sweden.

Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife Le Thi Bich Tran and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi to attend the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3), conduct bilateral activities in the French Republic; and pay an official visit to the Republic of Estonia and the Kingdom of Sweden from June 5-4, 2025 at the invitation of Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres and President of the French Republic Emmanuel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Sweden Ulf Kristersson.

This is the first time the Vietnamese Prime Minister has attended the United Nations Ocean Conference, the first visit to France by a Prime Minister since the two countries upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024, following the visit to Vietnam by French President E. Macron in May 2025; the first visit by a Prime Minister to Estonia since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992; and the first visit by a Prime Minister to Sweden in the past 7 years.

The official delegation accompanying Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife during the working trip included: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister and Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung;

Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology Chu Hoang Ha; Vietnamese Ambassador to Finland and holds a term of Estonia Pham Thi Thanh Binh; Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang; Vietnamese Ambassador to Sweden Tran Van Tuan.

This working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh continues to implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active and comprehensive, extensive and effective international integration in the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress, Resolutions No. 34-NQ/TW, No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

The Prime Minister's participation in the United Nations Ocean Conference aims to implement Resolution No. 36-NQ/TW on the Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; demonstrating that Vietnam is an active and responsible member of the international community, has been actively implementing measures to preserve and sustainably use marine resources, and is ready to contribute to the common efforts of the international community on this issue; at the same time, affirming Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and wishing to strengthen and promote relations with European countries, including France, Estonia and Sweden.
