Launch of a book about building the Army by General Phan Van Giang

On January 27, in Hanoi, the People's Army Publishing House and the Propaganda and Training Department (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) jointly organized the launch of the book "Building a Revolutionary, Regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Army to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new era" by General Phan Van Giang, Member of the Politburo, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense.

At the ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Duc - Director of the Propaganda and Training Department (General Department of Politics) - emphasized that in the process of thoroughly grasping and implementing the Party's resolution, General Phan Van Giang had many articles, speeches, and important interviews about building a "lean, compact, strong" Army, laying the foundation for moving towards modernity.

Colonel, writer Pham Van Truong - Director, Editor-in-Chief of the People's Army Publishing House - said that the book includes 38 articles and some images of the activities of Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang, arranged according to thematic groups suitable to the order of publication time and developments of political events of the Party, the nation and the Army.

The book is divided into two parts. The first part: Thoroughly grasping the Party's military and defense guidelines; building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Army.

Part two: Building a people's national defense, a people's national defense posture to meet the requirements of protecting the Fatherland in the new era.

The content of the book also mentions socio-economic development associated with strengthening national defense potential in strategic locations; clarifying national defense foreign policy, maintaining long-term peace, ensuring stability in the context of a volatile world, increasingly fierce strategic competition, contributing to building a fair and reasonable global common security on the basis of respecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of each nation. This is a vivid manifestation of the strategy of protecting the Fatherland "from early, from afar", "keeping the country from when it is not yet in danger"...

Speaking at the book launch, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics - emphasized that the book has closely crystallized between summarizing vivid practice and developing military theory, clarifying the core and consistent issues in building a revolutionary, regular, elite, and modern Vietnam People's Army;

The book also continues to consistently affirm the viewpoint: Building a politically strong Army is the foundation and basis for deciding to improve the overall quality and combat strength of the Army, ensuring that the Army is always a reliable political force, an absolutely loyal fighting force of the Fatherland, to the Party, State and people.

Based on the value and significance of the book, Senior Lieutenant General Truong Thien To requested agencies and units to focus on thoroughly grasping the ideology and guiding viewpoints of General Phan Van Giang expressed in the book, considering this as a fundamental document serving political and ideological education and leadership and direction in implementing the task of building the Army in the new situation.
