On January 6, information from the People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Zone (An Giang) said that the locality is directing relevant departments to liquidate the lease contract for the organization of Bach Dang walking street and night market according to the law.
According to the leader of Phu Quoc Special Zone, in September 2015, the Phu Quoc District Economic Department (now the Phu Quoc Special Zone Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Area Department) signed an economic contract with Ngoi Sao Bien Tourism Joint Stock Company to lease the space to organize Bach Dang walking street and night market (Phu Quoc night market) for a period of 10 years, ending on December 31, 2025.
The Chairman of Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee has also directed the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Affairs Department to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to carry out contract liquidation according to the provisions of law; at the same time, coordinate with Sao Bien Tourism Joint Stock Company to organize surveys and collect opinions from small traders; preside over and coordinate with relevant units to strengthen propaganda and instruct individual business households (with real estate in the above area) to conduct business in accordance with the provisions of law, not encroaching on roads, sidewalks and sidewalks.
On December 23, 2025, the Department of Economy, Infrastructure and Urban Areas of Phu Quoc Special Zone notified the Sea Star Tourism Joint Stock Company to request payment of public debt in the third and fourth quarters of 2025. At the same time, the company is required to hand over the entire leased land area according to the current status when the contract ends.
