Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspects storm prevention work No. 3 in Hai Phong

According to a report by Hai Phong City, the whole city currently has 78 vulnerable points, including the dyke system, some old apartment buildings and works at high risk of insecurity when storms occur. The authorities have organized inspections, reviews, and at the same time made plans to relocate all residents in old apartment buildings at risk of insecurity, determined not to let people stay in the risk zone.

For the area of aquaculture cages at sea, the most important stage is before the storm. The authorities have deployed all measures to anchor, tie, tie, and pull the cages to ensure safety. The police have listed all the people in the cages and organized a campaign to get to shore. Each cage will have only one person left, and no later than 6:00 p.m. on July 21, the last person will be brought ashore. In case of non-compliance, the locality will carry out enforcement to ensure absolute safety of people.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assessed that the city has given quick, timely and very clear instructions on storm prevention and control. However, the city needs to pay special attention to a number of issues, especially early and accurate forecasting to take timely response measures. As for ensuring dyke safety, the requirement is to control it in advance. In vulnerable areas, the quality of dykes is not guaranteed, so they must be focused on handling them immediately.

Regarding the risk of landslides, the Deputy Prime Minister said that this is an issue that cannot be subjective, even in the city, the risk still exists and must be handled in a fundamental and long-term manner. From there, the requirement is to have a comprehensive, sustainable strategy. Hai Phong needs to focus on reviewing and re-evaluating all areas at risk of landslides to completely handle them.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that there are many key economic projects in Hai Phong City, including those under construction, with great potential risks of property damage during the storm, so special attention and strict control are needed.

For areas where cages for aquaculture at sea are grown, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that they must be enforced resolutely, but if people are to truly relocate from cages, they must ensure a plan to protect their property. At the same time, mobilize all armed forces to help people brace and protect cages.

Inspecting the boat mooring area in Do Son ward, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the locality to focus on directing the implementation of the project to key areas. This is a key factor to ensure mobility, quick and effective response when situations occur. Each commune has a shock team, but when one commune has an incident, all other communes must immediately provide support, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.
