Starting construction of the first of 9 bridges connecting islands in Van Don

The Mang River Bridge project, with the starting point connecting to Ban Sen - Tan Lap route and the end point connecting to Km6+195 of the Minh Chau - Quan Lan island route, reaching the scale of a grade IV mountainous road, has a total investment of 553.5 billion VND

The total length of the designed route is more than 3km. After completion, the project will contribute to connecting traffic, creating favorable conditions for local people and tourists to travel from Ban Sen Island to Minh Chau - Quan Lan Island, developing land, creating a premise to promote tourism development and economic development.

The Mang River is a small channel located between islands in the sea, about 3km long, a historic river. This is where the salary ships with about 170,000 salary stars of the Nguyen army, in the third invasion of Dai Viet, were sunk by the army and people of Dai Viet, under the command of Tran Khanh Du, in 1288.

The Mang River Bridge project is the first bridge construction project in 9 bridges under the Investment Project to build an inter-island traffic route in Van Don Special Zone.

In order to create a breakthrough in attracting investment and accelerating the development of the socio-economic infrastructure system, in the period of 2026 - 2030, Quang Ninh province is studying the Investment Project to build an inter-island traffic route in Van Don Special Zone.

The total length of the route is about 58.2 km. Including 9 bridges, with a total length of 14.2 km; 22 km of newly built and upgraded roads, and 22 km of the current Tan Lap - Ban Sen road.

There are 2 investment options.

Option 1, the width of both the bridge and the road is 12 m, with a total investment of about VND 8,570 billion. According to this plan, 9 bridges, with a total length of 14.2 km, have a total investment of about 7,100 billion VND; 22 km of newly built roads have an investment capital of about 990 billion and 440 billion VND to expand 22 km of the current Tan Lap - Ban Sen road.

Option 2, the width of both the bridge and the road is 24 m, with a total investment of VND 17,160 billion.

Of which, the cost of building 9 bridges is about 14,200 billion VND; about 2,000 billion VND for 22 km of newly built roads and 960 billion VND to expand 22 km of the current Tan Lap - Ban Sen road.

In the plan to build transport infrastructure, socio-economic infrastructure in Van Don Special Zone and Co To Special Zone synchronously and modernly, ensuring both promoting socio-economic development and consolidating and firmly strengthening national defense and security, in the period of 2026-2030, Quang Ninh province also plans to build a sea overpass connecting the large Co To island and Thanh Lan island, belonging to Co To Special Zone.

This bridge is about 2 km long and is expected to be implemented from 2027-2029.
